Because CDi is hilariously awful historical moment of otherwise brilliant franchise.
Because Youtube was a new thing at the time

I can only speak for myself but wasted effort is the highest art form I can truly appreciate.
So many people of that era were spending countless hours sourcing videos and using crude editing tools in highly meticulous but also inane ways. They could have been doing anything else but they were sentence mixing full episodes of schizophrenic nonsense using garbage sources.
Everything combined about it was just funny as a result. Low quality crudity but it was made with high effort sophistication. And all for no reason other than "its funny".

Probably one of the worst canned terms utilized to destroy any form of conversation on this site, or the internet for that matter. I'm so glad that retarded generational bickering didn't exist at even a sliver of what it is today back in the 2000's when I was a teen by malcontent 30-40 year olds. People that obsess over generations are retards that try to compartmentalize the entire world into neat little boxes that they can quickly classify groups into. They never have good takes because you'd have to be a fucking moron to believe that people work like that.
Anyways, YTP's have always been a love it or hate it since their inception in 2006-2007, but the underground culture of it played a significant role in that transitional phase of the internet going from primarily user generated text and images to uploading public video material. I still remember when Google Videos and Youtube appeared in 2005 and how big of a thing it was. Just being able to watch random shows that were impossible to find and no longer on TV made me giddy as a teenager (that split second moment before TV industry took notice).
>>10284091
Who gives a flying fuck, of course kids would find YTP's funny. Instead of saying "young zoomers" just say "young kids" And that doesn't mean people who are older can't enjoy it, much in the same way when watching South Park for the first time in 97 when I was 8 years old, it left me in stitches despite being considered far too young to watch it.

The only two major cartoons used for YTP back then was the DIC Mario Cartoons and AoSH. The Mario cartoons primarily SM3 and SMW came out in 90-91 and even as a kid (somewhere in 94-96), it was very difficult to find reruns on syndication (SMW/Super Show bundle), but I do remember recording one episode as a kid with the VHS.

This.
There's so many different styles to suit different tastes. I think you have to have an appreciation for zaniness and randomness to some degree, especially when it comes to cartoons, in order to enjoy them unless that type of humor is just really alien to you or you're a sociopath.
For me, I can enjoy most YTPs of any style if they're funny while the majority of my friends, barring one, just didn't like the chaotic, spastic, earrape nature of some YTPs or the "LOL so randumb" ones with some surreal elements, but they loved DurhamrockerZ's KOTH YTPs and Orpheus' Skooks series.

These are the types YTPs my friends don't like as an example:

>Well *I* hadn't seen any footage until AVGN

Insert me poking fun at the guy here. I first watched AVGN on screwattack, I had also first seen YTP on YouTube since YTP first started kicking it in 06-07. I vaguely recall reading about the Nintendo CD-i games in some GamePro "worst games ever" segment ages ago, though it may have been EGM. It wasn't exactly unknown either way.

>> No.10285654 [DELETED]

I'm weirdly specific when it comes to YTP. I prefer the video having a single source file, no excessive keyframing animations and overlays, having a few is okay but MLG tryhard fgts gtfo, channel injokes need to be kept to a minimum, it needs earrape but done purposefully and not just because for the entire duration (you're just making noize at a certain point), sentence mixing needs to be vulgar or absurd, repetition works, there needs to be some throughline but repetition works and never anything too sensical or coherent, weird plunderphonics style remixing is repetition works.

Some random picks.

Same. I had seen a brief mention of it in the Swedish Nintendo mag back in the early 2000s, was a small section with a few small screenshots, they actually acknowledged that some of the background art in some places was really well done and nice to look at, but that the games just weren't very good, and the animated scenes were extremely silly and rough.

Didn't ever hear of them again or get to actually see them until AVGN.

I actually like the spirit of the CD-i games, in that they feel like their basic premise was initially "what if there were Mario and Zelda games in the spirit of the DiC cartoons?" Just wish they could've gone all the way and made games directly based on said cartoons... though honestly they still wouldn't have been any good, and these cutscenes have assuredly contributed more entertainment value to the world than a more grounded and nominally better series of CDi games could've ever hoped to achieve.

Memes, the funny and relatable images and videos that have dominated social media for over a decade, may soon be fading out. While they've provided countless amounts of laughter and entertainment, it's been a long ride for the meme culture. From the mid-2000s until now, memes have been the go-to source for comedic relief on the internet. However, new generations are emerging, and they are seeking new and innovative ways to entertain themselves. As we move further into the future, the popularity of memes will slowly decrease, and eventually, something else will take its place. Youtube has already taken over as a source for surrogate friends and funny content, leaving memes as a remnant of a bygone internet era. It's time to recognize that memes have been a significant part of our lives, but it's also time to accept that they will eventually fade out, making way for new forms of entertainment to emerge.

CD-i Zelda was an anomaly. We all knew it existed but never actually played it. Once flash based internet video became a widespread thing, of course the most absurd media of a beloved property is going to get memed. It was this cheap bizarro version of Zelda. It was begging for it.

Morshu has outlived his contemporaries. He is the gift that keeps on giving.

Meme is just a label. Postcards and political cartoons were the memes of yesteryear.

Before “meme” became the accepted term, YTMND called them “fads”.

It’s part of human nature. Memes are no different than a sitcom catchphrase.

Postcards and political cartoons did have this effect in the past, but the speed and reach of the internet has taken this to a whole new level.
memes, as we know them, will evolve and eventually be replaced. As technology advances and new forms of entertainment emerge, the way we consume and share content will change.
we may look back on the current era of memes as a somewhat crude and basic form of humor. Just as we view slapstick comedy of the past as primitive compared to the nuanced humor of today.
memes are not the end-all-be-all of entertainment. There will always be new and exciting forms of expression that emerge, and it's up to us to embrace and enjoy these changes.
