That controller uses almost the exact same mold as the SCPH-1080.
It would make a fine companion to a blue debug kit PlayStation.
You could possible make it an even closer match by swapping the buttons out for those from a normal SCPH-1080, and the d-pad from a Hori Fighting Commander so it would be the correct grey color.

Price is the quickest and easiest tell. People who have a legit used dual shock 3 or sixaxis know it and want a premium for it.

Then the next easiest is the PS button. On most of the fakes it's just not quite right. This seems to be one of the harder things for them to replicate.

Then the lettering on the START and SELECT buttons + SONY logo just won't look quite right.

The Hori Horipad for Nintendo Switch is a pretty decent overall controller, once you get used to its peculiar d-pad; it's good, but you need to get the hang of it first. I bought one of these $4 PS2 to PS3 converters off of ebay.
Did not have high expectations for it.
However, it does work and it doesn't even have much input lag. Maybe 1 frame, or maybe none at all. I have not measured but it's pretty darn low if it's there.
And I've used some laggy converters so I know what those are like, and I play very lag-sensitive genres so if it's a problem or not.
This thing is okay. For frickin' four bucks at least. It even supports X-input.

But I can't figure out how to get it to work with a pure digital controller, if it can at all. Works fine with my dual shock 1 controller, but if I plug in my OEM SCPH-1010 it only recognizes the up direction and nothing else.
Maybe a button combo on start-up?

I've been using this as my daily driver for ps1 and 2 games. It feels great in the hands, and it has the pressure sensitive buttons for the games that use it.

I wish we could get a USB version of this for PC... would love to use it while emulating Genesis, both the console and controller look surprisingly stunning in these colors.

If you're not talking exclusively about the colors, RetroFlag has a pretty decent and cheap USB Genesis controller.

Driver issue where it became a clusterfuck in your PC's registry or whatever the fuk, or the cable / connectors have a slightly weakness or intermittent strength to the signal which makes the PC not want to connect with it. Just two guesses from my experience. If it doesn't work on other computers the cable or connectors probably need to be replaced

Oh wow, I had this back in the day. D-pad wasn't that bad but the buttons were very stiff. Always wondered why it was so thick when it didn't need to be (guessing for turbo circuitry). It was half as much as the official controller, so got you multiplayer at an okay quality at a decent price.

I had one of these for the ps1 and it sucked. It had flimsy triggers, the steering was unresponsive and it felt cheap. I didn't realize it was made by hori until now.

The ps3 version works on PC, though it doesn't support xinput. I used it for many years on both. Unfortunately the usb dongle stopped working after several years of use. You could use the ps2 version on pc with an adapter. I'm pretty sure you can also use that xbox version on pc with a simple plug adapter, or cutting the wire. Xbox controllers are just USB with a different shape. I used to copy my xbox saves onto flash drives with a xbox->USB plug.

I need some advice... are there any 3rd party USB or Bluetooth SEGA Saturn controllers that work on GNU/Linux? All of the ones I've found mention Windows and MacOS, and sometimes Steam, we do have Proton, but I don't know if it'd work for a controller...
