well to be fair it was the worst part of the console. I'd probably be more open to it if they had coated the analog stick in rubber material similar to a sony stick, and also if the stick didn't literally destroy itself over time. I heard a rumor on this board that it's because they weren't allowed to use a certain lubricant in the controller due to u.s. consumer regulations

It still looks fine. It does look substantially better on a CRT or with a shader like all games of that time, since they were directly designed around being seen from those screens and not modern ones which amplify the visual details in unintended ways.

MGS1 & the first 2 tony hawk games are usually what i think about when i think of PS1 graphics which i think look great as a way to go for a simulation feel.

the 3D sonic spinoffs like sonic R or the fighters is what i think of when i think of saturn graphics which look nicer than mario or any of the rare platformers on the N64

starfox 64, OOT & MM is what i think of when i think of N64 graphics. i don't think they're as bad as what this anon >>10261246 says but they definitely look worse compared to my examples for saturn & PS1.
