We already won. The entire first world is built around us and for us.

>> No.10260969

Someone who didn't already know Japanese wouldn't be able tell if the translationwas accurate or not. Op is a self hating weeb who cherry picked one of the few examples that this stuff actually works for.

EOP here. I'd hardly call this a suitable replacement for a proper translation patch. Having to pause the game every time you need a translation gets old fast. Cool technology though.

I'm not learning jap to specifically play untranslated games, I'm doing it to enjoy jap media DIRECTLY without an ENG filter between me and the game. No translation software can remove that filter, it's there due to the built in differences between two languages

japanese is a language of nuance and subtlety which is impossible to directly translate

but have fun!

>> No.10264337

This cherrypick is "accurate" but sounds bad.
>I can't help it, let's take a tour without permission
More like "It can't be helped, I'm gonna look around on my own accord"
The technology of recognizing the text and passing it on to a translator is cool but the translator itself seems to just be GoogleTL or DeepL. It works okay here with these two sentences but will easily fuck up depending on situation. Any sentence that lacks full context (because the context is visual for example) will not work.

Also this >>10264287
The amount of shit in this fucking language that is like "I get this but you can't really translate it." is staggering. Also Japanese fucking loves leaving the subject out because it is implied by context but machine translation then adds a subject to the text because English needs one and it will just guess wrong a lot of the time.

I'm not going to lie and say that every last person who speaks Japanese can remember every single Kanji and every single word - there are educated Japanese right now who wouldn't be able to read words that commonly appear in light novels and visual novels. If you really want to cherry pick, go watch some of the more retarded vtubers trip over extremely common words like 太刀 or 蠍.
But let's not pretend that English speakers are any better. Just because you can "read" a word doesn't necessarily mean you understand it - lots of people can read a passage out loud, but whitenoise words they couldn't define when asked.

That anon clearly said he learns it for himself, so he can better engage with japanese media. AI would be replacing him only if he was a translator or something like that. You are dumb, No.10264531 anon.

Once I learned that both fan-translators and the modern official ones are mostly trannies who genuinely hate the culture which spawned their favourite entertainment media, I stopped wanting to learn Japanese and no longer feel bad for being unable to read the moonrunes of my fav R18 doujinshi with sex-crazed jailbait virgin girls.

Translators have always been shit. The difference is that the crappy ones we got stuck with in the 90s like Vic Ireland/Working Designs would make changes to the script that were actually worth seeking out and entertaining to read. Modern translators make changes that no one wanted to see in the first place and makes you want to skip as much text as you can to avoid it.
