Hi, there!

Recently a friend gave me three consoles that he adquired long, long time ago.

I asked him if he knew something about the consoles and he told me that cannot remember anithing.

I think they are some kind of Chinese cheap versions of Nintendo Entertaiment System (NES) console.

If you think that you can help me reply this post and I will send photos of the consoles.

Thanks!

It's a Famiclone; chinese clones of the Famicom/NES. They're extremely common in Asia / South America / Eastern Europe and are still being manufactured as we speak. Vintage ones like you're describing are probably discrete components and as good as the real thing. Modern ones are "NES on a chip" (NOAC) and while cheap to manufacture, are less compatible with commercial software. That screenshot you posted is Super Mario Bros (or maybe SMB2?) with the title screen graphics / copyright notice removed, a very common hack you'll see on pirated carts, etc. Picrel is a NOAC Famiclone mounted to a cutting board, presumably in Eastern Europe.

It's crazy how big Dendy was in Russia and how it was marketed on TV and everything as if it was completely legal and Nintendo didn't even exist. I forgot his name but some Russian guy who looks like he has boneitis has some pretty interesting videos about it on Youtube

This console is broken. You connect it and the light in the power button lights on. But cannot see the video on my TV. I tried with almost 6 differents TVs and does not work. How can I fix it if there's a way to do it?

This is the back of the console. I only use standard A/V cables. The cables are the same as the previous consoles and work on them; but in the gray one nothing is seen on the screen. Could there be a problem with the internal board?

is possible. can you receive audio through the white port? also you can try the red rca port. i believe that is modulated composite signal so you'll need an rca to rg-6 adapter.looks like the switch controlling the tuner is recessed next to it

>> No.10228801

>>10228770
I do not receive audio from any port. I have also tried plugging the wires into other ports like the red wire into the yellow port and random combinations. That worked with the other consoles. I've also tried other adapters I have at home and it didn't work. I suspect that the internal board has a problem.

>> No.10228814

>>10228801
the nes was monophonic so there should be audio coming out of just one port. the red port wouldn't work with any similar connector on the tv, it needs to be fed to an rf in port through an adapter just like the original nes and tv set to the correct channel based on the tuner state (3 or 4). but if you tried that already then i guess it's fried

Anyway, I guess I'll look for a technician who can help me with these consoles to repair them.
By the way, do you know what the format of the video games on these consoles is? I am interested in buying more games for these consoles.

They had a huge network of gaming stores and controlled the most of the videogames market in Russia so when Nintendo learned about it they traded the piracy absolution for SNES distribution contract.

Was there some reason they did a half-assed job of avoiding Nintendo's trademarks? Would it have been illegal to release those under Russian law unless they made tiny changes?

These bootlegs were imported from Hong Kong, Taiwan and China so it's something about their local laws.

So yeah, these are all Famiclones, they're designed to play bootleg Famicom cartridges (maybe they can play genuine carts too, but no idea).

First one has a shell that resembles the SEGA Mega Drive, it looks like it has places for keeping two game controllers when you're not using them.

The second one bears some resemblance to the PS1 and the PC-Engine, but might be re-using the shell of some other cheap system? It comically steals the Tiger Electronics logo, but looking up "Tiger TG-2002 Famiclone" gave me this listing of similar systems with a black shell and sometimes a Batman logo.
http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/korea/appendix-consoles2.htm

The third one is a straight-up bootleg Family Computer (Famicom), very strongly resembling Nintendo's original hardware in Japan.

The Famicom and the Nintendo Entertain System are generally considered separate systems despite compatibility with each other, as the Famicon had things like the Disk System which has games which on a software level are not immediately compatible with NES hardware.
It's why you can't find Japanese NES ROMs, but many Famicom ROMs will run in NES emulators.

Another point of interest is that there's a shitload of bootleg and unlicensed NES games out there, but it's often more accurate to say that they're games made for Famiclone systems. As a result of being designed for Famiclone hardware, they can actually play incorrectly on official NES/Famicom hardware or emulators targeting those official systems.

Nintento ignored Russian market and pirates rushed to grab it for themselves. It was poetic justice, since Nintendo stole Tetris from us.

Had your failed state managed to prevent Tetris from being exported, Pajitnov would be penniless and dead and no one would have played Tetris. 3rd world revisionist bullshit.

Nikolai Belikov (ELORG boss) asked Nintendo about a possibility of releasing Famicom in USSR, but they weren't interested. Imagine the Elektronika Entertainment System with native SECAM video output. Millions of children could have been spared of the grim fate of playing Dendy in black and white.

There were many color TVs in USSR, but even by the 1980s they were seen as luxury items. Even the cheapest models costed more than an average montly salary of a Soviet citizen.

I've been using that shit site since middle school to get roms because back then going on Russian websites was a good way to get around the school's site blockers. I didn't know it was some major rom site, I figured it was just like the others. By the way, if anyone here decides to check it out, I highly advise to have your adblocker on when visiting it, as a long time ago I've gotten a virus from a Java applet that ran on one of that site's ads.
