Hmmm... was the shooter section of Kirby Super Star based on this game? I wouldn't put it past HAL.

that's similar to Fist of the North Star.

Kirby's Dream Land still did it. You don't get the full ending until you clear the harder Extra Mode.

HAL started out as a home computer shovelware factory. They did a shmup years before Air Fortress

>> No.10224006

I wonder how Nintendo treats the HAL ips? I assume since they are 2nd party, Nintendo could do with them as they wish. Have they ever shown up on one of their virtual services? Stuff like Eggerland, Arcana, Radar Rat Race and Trax I would assume are all technically Nintendo IPs now like Glory of Heracles.

I remember discovering Air Fortress at a thrift store in the early 2000s and for a long time i figured for sure that the main character, Hal, was going to be in the next Smash brothers.

HAL still releases some games independently, Part Time UFO for mobile phones being a recent example. Since they have never been outright accuired by Nintendo, they probably retain their old IPs.

I feel like at least one HAL game that wasn't Kirby showed up on Switch Online, but I'm not totally sure.
>>10222896
Could be. But HAL likes putting shmup elements into Kirby games anyway.
Then again, Dream Land 3 had blatant nods to Hyperzone, so Nova being an Air Fortress reference isn't that unlikely.

Adventures of Lolo is on NSO. Is it credited to HAL as a publisher there?
