You have a point, but, nah. Super Mario World has such a clean style that goes well with almost anything. Post some screenshots of a game with more color density, that's where those shaders falter.

I was actually thinking of some Mega Drive dither-heavy, but I really appreciate your effort to take pics of many different games. At the very least, it's a good proof that those shaders are actually usable nowadays.

>> No.10221997

>>10219974

Waaaay too many people do that crap. They'll even sometimes squish 16:9 video to 4:3, though that's much rarer. And god help these people when they decide to post video of DS games... then you'll sometimes even see 8:3 per screen. Normal people just don't have good brains I guess.

I use the Chrome extension Ultrawidify to correct it in most cases. That extension is primarily meant for a different purpose, but somewhere deep in its options you can find buttons for forcing 4:3 or whatever, and that seems to be good enough for my purposes.

Calm down, Rolfe. Filters have been around for many years (since the 90's, in fact), and they weren't really about "looking cool" but were designed as scaling algorithms first and foremost. Nearest neighbor (what many people commonly call "raw" pixels) is itself one such scaling algorithm, along with bilinear, and then came shit like Eagle, 2xSaI, Scale2x and HQx. I personally didn't much like them back in the day (I tended toward bilinear back then), but they were an option for those who didn't want either a blocky nor blurry image.
