Owning a Gamecube is useless, because you can easily get a cheap Wii which is almost the exact same thing but better. You can also just emulate because GC emulation is actually really good.

I'm more of a SEGA fan than a Nintendo fan, and overall find the Dreamcast to be pure SOUL... but my some of my favorites in the console, mainly Sonic, are all on Game Cube, which also has Sonic conpilations and Sonic Heroes, not only that, but in general Game Cube had a richer library, so I'll go with it, even though it's a tough decision to make.

I had a GameCube growing up but as an adult I prefer Dreamcast. It's just a really cool console even outside of the Sonic and first-party games. Tons of great shmups and fighting games that the GameCube never got. GameCube does have the Super Monkey Ball games, Sonic compilations, and F-Zero GX, but I think Dreamcast has a more interesting history and SEGA is just a more interesting company in general.

Gamecube has Animal Crossing and Metroid Prime but Gamecube has Jet Set Radio, EGG and some other personal niche favorites. I'm assuming I also get a VMU for full Chao functionality...tough choice. Probably the hardets decision for me to make because JSR and Metroid Prime are 2 of my favorite games of all time. I think I'd have to choose Dreamcast in the end...

Gamecube because it was a real 6th gen system and lived longer than 2 years.

Dreamcast was mostly just ports of 5th gen consoles and ports of shallow arcade games. Not to mention all the worthwhile DC games got ported to the Gamecube anyways.
