I swear zelda 1 feels way bigger than it is. Maybe its because nothings really gated? You can kinda just head off in any direction and start exploring? Maybe its because LttP is more just areas like castle, forest, town, desert, swamp ext so it feels less just vast?

almost all the screens in zelda one have action goin on in them. youre encountering 4 or more enemies every step of the way.

in LTTP the town, the fortune tellers area, the mini area to the lost woods, the forge guys house, the library area (and west), the path south of the tree grove, links house, and the screen near the sanctuary... granted some of these areas are 'town'; but thats over half the map where you can do stuff in, but nothing is really happening on its own. and you just pretty much run through
