I don't know what Starfield is, but the Escape Velocity games were fun space trading games, more akin to Elite (but with 2D graphics) than Starflight though.

There's some Amoeba looking things in Ascendancy. The different species' theme music when you're talking to them is cool. The main music of the game is more low key, wouldn't really call it orchestral.

I've tried the antagonizer, but the game is still pretty easy. Meebs are great because you never need to waste space building outposts or habitats
I guess there's an improved version of the game on mobile and TLF intended to bring it over to the PC, but then they mysteriously vanished, never to be heard from again.
