Why did the SNES Dracula X's final boss fight rip off this boss from Bram Stoker's Dracula?

Also Castlevania thread.

Whoops, accidentally made another CV thread before seeing this one. Anyway, just wanted to say it took me way too long to find the relics in this game and I feel retarded. It was pretty gud though. Compared to CotM it seemed like they lowered the combat difficulty and made exploration much more meticulous to compensate.

There is always more retarded than you anon, for example I kept searching hidden rooms and where to go next without knowing that the select button shows the map

I think Simon's Quest is the best of the NES trilogy, no bait.

It doesn't resemble that at all. Dracula will stop and spit out fireballs. Do you mean fighting on different platforms with shit popping out?

This is the only game I know where the speedrun sequence break route is much easier than the casual playthrough. Get the lizard tail then get the super jump boots early and the castle becomes a lot more traveable.

Best thing about HoD is the movement, dashing/sliding makes everything feel really fluid and fast

yeah because bram stocker's dracula invented boss fights with pits, it's such a renowned influencial masterpiece after all

Don't fret, anon. At least it didn't go for you like in my case, where I found out 7 years later after playing it that there was a black book for summons for each sub weapon.

I bought this game with my own money as a kid and I'm still fucking angry about it. Sucked so bad.

The movement is great, it was unusual but very nice to play a CV where you can outmaneuver enemies so easily. I just wish the bosses had more attacks that made you use it.
>>10195908
I had the summoning book and how to get the good ending spoiled for me and I don't even care, I'm happy with how much I did on my own. I never would've found that damn book lol

Warlock is the only good not-Castlevania based off a licensed property.

Dracula is like the easiest boss in the game and you can only be killed by him because of rng.

It's the over for dracula

Probably tied with Rondo for my favorite Death fight so far, it's so kino when he stops hovering around and goes mano a mano for his second form.
Loving this game!

the fight is sick but I really wish Death talked in this game, he'd have more interesting things to say than 80% of Aria's cast

>motherfucking trips
>regarding Juste's movement
No lies here. Honestly, it's something that I think HoD doesn't get enough recognition for, considering how it affected later games. AoS technically has backdash cancelling, except you can only either jump or slide forward out of it for some reason. I'm glad later games including its own sequel would handle it a little more like how HoD does.

>first game to have proper dash cancelling
>can even dash cancel crouch attacks, which wouldn't be back until OoE
>can toggle spellbooks on and off and even alternate through which element on the fly
>subweapon rings allow for differently behaving subs from triple dagger to holy water spread

All things that would go on to affect the DS games in particular and I just don't think they would be the same without it.

>Classic
IV Death, probably. Maybe not super difficult, but I really love his presentation and moveset. His signature pull-in attack is nuts when you think about it, he's really doing so much shit at once.
>pulling you towards himself
>spinning his scythe damn fast and is actually really painful to touch
>moving said scythe all over the place in different ways while he's at it
>makes half the screen a no-sub zone while he's at it, shit burns up right as it leaves your hand if you're standing in it

>Metroidvania
Tossup between OoE and PoR, they both have big dick attacks and style, but I really appreciate the latter's barrier aura as a game mechanic and for looking so cool.

Dude will accost random Belmonts just because of the color of their souls in one game, but can't be assed to talk to the dude running with the soul/soul power of his old master? Come on.
