3D games for the GBA have always fascinated me, so I'm working on a map viewer for Driv3r. If you didn't know, it's one of the few 3D open world games for the system. So far, I've managed a rough 2D visualization for one of the cities. I know it's not much, but hopefully there will be more to come as I figure out the map format.

Hey anons, I've been meaning to ask this but the last thread 404, and I haven't had time to check. I am the WiiAnon that needed help with homebrewing my Wii, all I needed was an SDCard which finally came in the mail but they "accidentally" gave me the wrong 1 >picrel [I Ordered A 32GB].
Would this work fine on the Wii? It's only 200mb/s, don't I need at least 300 or more? Thanks again to all the anons that helped me last thread, I appreciate you.

not sure, but i kinda doubt the Wii could handle those speeds. USB thumbstick drives work fine too, i use some old piece of shit 8GB one when i modded it in like 2010, because that's what you had back then. i remember playing Project M without much issue.
Unless the SD slot speeds themselves are the problem, that should be more than enough horsepower for data / audio / FMVs etc.
TL;DR - should be fine, if not, try USB thumbstick.

Best (ideally finished) ROM hacks that feel like all-new games or at least like great expansions?
The franchise doesn't really matter.
Here are some of my picks.
Sonic (LOADS of them but here are some):
>Sonic Megamix (honestly I think you should play both 3.0 and 4.0, they are pretty different)
>Hellfire Saga (anything by Hardline Team really, but this is the most "complete" package)
>Sonic Scorched Quest
>Metal Sonic Hyperdrive
>Metal Sonic Rebooted
>Sonic Advanced Edit
>Sonic 2 Retro Remix

Mario:
>Extra Mario Bros
>Mario Adventure
>Super Mario Bros 3Mix
I know there's tons of SMW stuff, and a lot of it looks too good, but is also sort of samey (everyone does cool graphics now, so games mostly feel like shined-up level packs). If anyone knows SMW hacks that feel like all-new campaigns with enemies, bosses, unique stage gimmicks etc, please share.
I also don't don't know much about SM64 scene to comment on that.

Megaman:
>Rockman 4 Minus Infinity
>Rockman CX (Megaman CX translation exists)
>Megaman 4 Voyage

I tried to look at the code for wonderboy for sms to figure out the jumping physics, I had less knowledge back then but I was able to figure out memory addresses for gravity, velocity and a couple of other values used. So I found you can change the physics by editing values in rom at locations 04296, 4299 and 0431A. From what I could find its similar to super mario world but simpler going by what I saw in a recent displaced gamers video.

I did a test decompiling my game engine I'm trying to make and can you see how the decompiled version compared and it is harder to read because the compiler uses + instead jump commands as an optimization.

I attempted to decompile mario land so I could make it work on the sms but I need to rethink that because both systems have instructions with the same name that do different things.

I looked at the perfect dark code but I don't know c, I thought I would see variables to change but I didn't. I think it would be cool to port it to ms dos or the dreamcast.

>>10175660

>Gays and troons are always become the way they are because of being diddling or abused as children; no other reason
What a chestnut of Bullshit. Gays & Lesbians=/=""agender"" ""non-binary"" nor ""genderfluid"" sickness.
Yeah, grooming is the reason for everyone that isn't an exclusive hetero /s. The mind of a child is indeed in a state of development, but that does not mean that everyone is straight by default. Being abused by a pedo at a very young age. does not automatically make someone go astray from the "one true way of sexual desire." Undoubtedly, it hurts children, both physically and mentally and makes them more likely to be abusive drug users and more frequently contemplate suicide, among other things. However, its an utter pile of bullshit to put all people with who aren't exclusively heterosexual as a sign of being either a synonym for pedo nor an absolute or likely sign of been raped before the age of 10, 13, or 16. true people who have been diddled at such young ages can be confused psychologically, as well as other such trauma, yes, but that does not definitively mean that everyone is intended by nature to be straight, and nothing more.A molester is a molester, no matter what kind of boy or girl said person abused. I stand by this statement that not every man or woman is equal. This applies to more than just race, age, and the sexes.

Your population spiked when degeneracy was normalized and people started giving you access to kids. It doesn't take a genius to figure out exactly went on there. Thankfully even the normies are starting to catch on and hopefully in the next few decades we can focus on reverting all of this. The trannies have basically lost, no troon lessons, not HRT for kids, no "kids can consent" is never happening, but you're next. Just peacefully grandfather yourselves out and leave the kids alone

As far as I can recall from back when I used to be a regular in regards to Wii hacking, you definitely won't get the advertised throughput of the SD card, especially not in a Wii, and to go even further, loading anything beyond ROMs (see: anything that isn't a Wii or GC game) is still ill-advised and they still recommend using a flash drive or external HDD for Wii and GC games (formatted to fat32 if you intend to play both from the same external drive, using a wbfs manager to split games larger than 4GB)

is a horror RPG game,is normal it will be slower paced since it has to create the atmosphere, same as resident evil first games.
Compare the original resident evil 3 against the remake
>original creates the atmosphere not foccusing on killing the enemies since is mostly survival.
>it creates the atmosphere of what is about to come.
>it gives you hints on some events yet leaves you a lot to imagination.
>you know one of your team mates is running from something yet nothing is shown besides zombies.
>finally it shows up nemesis and makes you pee yourself after creating the atmosphere.
contrary to remake
>shows nemesis at start of the game
>pace is too hurried up
>zombies are way too strong taking lot of damage
>despite nemesis being stronger then normal zombies it takes less bullets to stop him at once then killing a normal zombie.
enjoy the game is the perfect speed since is primary an RPG with horror elements the focus is exploring and learning about the game world.

At the moment for me, 60FPS 480p movement parkour FPS for the PS1 with all sorts of movement tech with a fun PS1 Dr. Slump/NDS Dragon Quest artstyle.

Either a DMC/God of War type game for the Dreamcast or an RE4 type game for the Dreamcast that's insanely optimised

A Tekken style Mode7 fighter for the SNES that I suppose builds on the foundation of Ballz but is actually really good, each limb for each character would need to be it's own sprite and move independently, their actual "animation" would be minimal and their movement would largely hinge on rotating and scaling in the Mode7 space.

Oh, and a port of Toy Fighter to the Dreamcast. Fighter's Destiny was really underrated.

Yeah, the walking speed is absolutely offensive. This Gameshark cheat changes movement speed in the very first area (in front of the opera house):

30071104 0005
30071384 0016

For the SLUS-00662 release (same as US PSN version). The first line is for walking, the second is for running (both in hex, so to double them for example change 05->0A and 16->2D).
However, these are just 2 out of many functions where movement speeds are hardcoded, and the very next area (corridor) uses other functions. Finding them takes time so no wonder nobody could make a cheat to fix the speed during the last 25 years. I think I can, but I want a game in return for spending my time on this (can't buy it myself because reasons).
So, if you or some other anon want a better cheat, post the proof that you've bought the game in >>>/h/hgg2d and I'll work on this more. You'll upload the game (specifically the current v5.0.0) and post the link in that thread when I'm done.

Someone reverse engineer the Super Turbo GBA port engine to make a fighting game for the GBA with visuals similar to capcom's SNES games which i always adore, heck, even use it to port Alpha 2 to the GBA with the SNES port visuals but more stable and maybe extra frames

Or even redo Alpha 3 with better visuals

Super Street Fighter II Turbo was a 64 megabit cartridge (8 mebibytes) that used 99.9% of its available ROM space (no joke, you can only trim about 5,000 bytes off)

The largest available GBA cartridges were 256 megabit (32 mebibytes) and not that many games used them or took advantage of the full space (the ones that did were those GBA Video releases).

Capcom were thrifty with their GBA releases and so developers had to make cuts and concessions to fit into what ROM space they were afforded. Were you to expand the ROM size to 128 megabit or 256 megabit, you could get additional frames of animation no problem. Doing all that sprite work is a huge undertaking though, you need more than just a reverse engineering but tools to work with retooling the output.

It's certainly awkward, but the balance it struck worked for me. Map everything and some of the mystery is lost. Map nothing and you can miss an entire world because you forgot/miscounted one door. Map just the hub? Perfect. Like an RPG with a world map but not dungeon maps.

Just finished this. Pretty damn good. The beginning blew me away with how different it felt. Unlike the original Junkoid a lot of the powerups had changed mechanics to feel very different. Blood was such a good area. The little puzzle really sold it. Just a glimpse into the mind of a fucked up purity-obsessed snake god and his schoolgirl oneitis.

It felt a little phoned in by the end, though. A lot of the reskins didn't quite fit. Especially the later bosses. A little tweaking could have made them an absolute menace but they were just... vanilla. They ran out of fitting custom tracks, too.

Obviously that's a lot of work but they could have done a little more with less. There's a room with no music at all and it's one of the most atmospheric in the game. I guess Subversion just spoiled me and now any endgame that isn't insanely elaborate feels barren.

It's not. Things take time. It's just a question of what you want to do with your life.
The Celeste Mario Zap and Dash engine is a 10 year project, it's an offshoot of a much bigger project called Mario Gaiden, and it is so goddamn polished, perfect and well designed that it was worth however long it took.
> seeing how long some of the hacks take I lose any motivation.
Shits hard.
Everyone comes in here with the grandiose multi-year project ideas thinking they can knock it out in a couple weekends. Well, unrealistic expectations will kill a project faster than anything else. Set realistic goals and do everything one step at a time, and before you know it, you may have something truly special on your hands.

Then don't make a full hack. If it's too boring for you to finish, imagine how the players feel. Add levels until you run out of ideas, then stop. Filler won't make your hack better.

A good hack can be a single world or even just a level. If you need more motivation you can join one of those level contests on SMWC or something. Just make sure to add some pixelated titties and call the player a faggot, they'll love that

Well, i actually used it for my latest project!
WLA-DX, the assembler, only spits out labels for itself or compatible with NO$GMB, i used ChatGPT to write a Powershell script to convert WLA labels to ones that Mesen can read and interpret. It botched some of the high level logic but absolutely fuckin nailed the Regex and Obscure Obtuse Powershell Bullshit commands that would have taken hours of googling and forum combing to figure out that fuckin bullshit.
Granted, that's not any of the actual project work, but it still saved me like 3 days of hair pulling lol.

To make any predictions about what AI will or won't be able to do in the future is absolutely fuckin silly to do right now. It would be like living in 1897 and saying a car will never reach speeds faster than 15 miles per hour lol.

Even when chatgpt is capable of generating code that's not absolute shit and can actually be used in a game it's still just another "game maker" Do these "accelerate homebrew development"? Technically any unplayable garbage can be called homebrew. But proliferation of that is almost exclusively what these things accelerate.

No. All you said is it saved you 3 days. You said nothing about how that accelerates any homebrew development.
>It saved me a few days of work.
Again, no evidence homebrew development was accelerated , or that any homebrew development was done at all. In fact, all evidence indicates neither occurred.
First, it's simply not believable that someone who would take 3 days to create such a simple tool is capable of making homebrew. This is something a basic code bitch could knock out in under a minute. The sort of thing a skilled coder might spend a whole minute on to do a one liner. Making minor changes to a sample or romhack or whatever you're actually doing is not making homebrew.
Second, by being lazy you've deprived yourself of the natural learning process required to lrn2code. Your coding skills will remain low until you make the effort to improve yourself. Until then, you will continue to code at a retarded, the opposite of accelerated, rate. You cheated not only the game but yourself. Had you not relied on chatgpt you may have spent 3 days learning how to google and code. But then you'd have that knowledge the rest of your life. Or at least until you go full brandon.
>I can knock out some pretty nice and fast ASM for 6502 / Z80 / 65c816 / even some x86
This is implausible based on everything you've said ITT. I also know it to be untrue. I don't want to discourage you, but dude, get a grip. You're a hobbyist in the early stages of learning this shit. You know close to nothing about it and fooling yourself into believing otherwise is just embarrassing.

Trying to make changes to other peoples shit is not developing homebrew, billyboy. Just stop. Have you learned nothing? Have you no shame?
Like I said, I don't want to discourage you. But dude. Do you not understand that I know exactly who you are and have even helped you out during some of your less petulant child episodes? Seriously, wtf is wrong with you?

It was my first run, however...
I'm a lazy bugger and edited my time and percentage at the very end of the escape sequence to check out any ending variations. That's the one I took a screenshot of.
Sorry for the deception.

I wouldn't say so. The map is smaller than vanilla for sure, but I wouldn't class it as a half-hack, especially if you want to try for 100%. There's a good amount of content here, and all the bosses are included as well.

yes but some hacks are glued to whatever emu it was developed on, sadly, especially so with n64

P64 is like ZSNES in that it was irreplaceable right up until it wasn't. Now it's obsolete. Even the clusterfuck that is the latest B3313 release was playable in Parallel Launcher instead. When even the extreme outliers don't need it, that's when you know an emulator's hegemony is pretty dead.
