Which consoles have the best selection of lightgun games?

Lightguns are expensive and bulky so I only wanna buy them for two or three systems.

>> No.10162443

Namco's Lightgun games are very well made on the PSX and PS2. The Guncon is also the coolest lightgun design, and actually has gun in the name.

I personally wouldn't bother with anything pre-5th gen.
NES Zapper games can be fun little novelties but there's not much worth more than 10 minutes of your time, Superscope is just a bulky retarded gimmick with no good games

This is one of the rare instances where the 16bit consoles shit the bed. The Super Scope and Menacer were pretty garbage and the Justifier wasn't all that comfortable and barely had any games. The Saturn has both Virtua Cops and House of the Dead, which are three of the best light gun games ever but the PS1 has more shit in general so it's a tossup between those.

PS1/PS2 no competition.
Time Crisis 1/2/3 (GunCon)
Vampire Night(GunCon)
Area 51 (Justifier)
Crypt Killer (Justifier)
Die Hard Trilogy (Justifier)
Die Hard Trilogy 2: Viva Las Vegas (Justifier/Guncon)
Elemental Gearbolt (Justifier/GunCon)
Ghoul Panic (GunCon)
resident Evil Dead Aim
Point Blank 1/2/3
Gunfighter the legend of Jessie James
residnet evil survivor
Lethal Enforcer 1/2
etc etc
Just so many good games, you will need two guns a guncon45 for the ps2 and a scorpion/lightblaster for the ps1 for die hard etc (justifier)

Let me guess, you are proud of what a great gamehunter you are, spending your weekends trawling flea markets and thrift stores and rejoicing when you find such hidden treasures as Tak and the Power of Juju (PS2, missing manual). The original Playstation has quite a few games that utilized the technology. I really want the Hori Beretta M92FS for the Playstation, but Japanese people typically don't like to deal with international shipping. Unfortunately, I didn't win the Mega Millions so I won't be visiting Japan anytime soon, but back in the day I was able to bring items like this back to the USA without issue, but I fear anything shaped like a gun may not make it past USA customs these days. Anyone else got the Beretta M92FS? Was there any difficulty in having it shipped to you?

God fuck, I miss having a shitty Madcatz lightgun for PS2 that wasn't very good but still got the job done. No CRTs in the house, no lightguns on hand, nothing to really mess with anymore. Only hope I have at this point is a Sinden for an LCD display at best.

I don't know about your country, but gun violence is pretty high in mine. So the scrutiny is pretty high here for anything gun related opposed to imitation fast fashion from Temu. At around ¥4000 for the Beretta and not even including the costs of a courier, it is no small amount to just "roll the dice".

>>10166157
Times have changed a lot. I used to have a solid wood and iron toy gun that resembled a double barreled shotgun as a child and that was fine, but those cap guns you no longer see around anymore. With how bad things have gotten, I imagine goofy looking guns like the ones Konami made may no longer be handled by import sites. That price didn't even include the shipping! At $188USD it would take a couple years to save up that much. A shame since it is really inexpensive in Japan, but I guess the added cost is for the potential legal fees that seller needs to hedge such a risky sale.

How's the wii zapper for light gun games and emulators anons? I already have a dolphinbar and there are some light gun type of games on wii that are worth playing anyway, and I can also get the zapper attachment for very cheap.

Could I also play light gun games on MAME or emulators other than dolphin with it? I saw a program called wiimote gun that let's you calibrate the wiimote to your monitor.

Anyone got any experience with that?

You're more than likely going to invest in the PS1/PS2 for more variety, keep in mind tho you're more than likely going to have more than one gun type since 3rd party ones that advertise compatibility with all games are usually shit or will crap out on you over time. Guncon 1 will only work with games made compatible for it, same goes for Guncon 2, and Konami Justifier has a couple exclusives. If you only want one of these guns for now, I think despite some limitations, Guncon 1 has more game options as some PS2 light gun games were made compatible with it, although some games are region specific (i.e. Japanese copy of Vampire Night doesn't support Guncon 1, but US/EU version does). Downside is that many later light gun titles stopped including Guncon 1 support even if some of the simpler ones could have realistically used it such as the Virtua Cop PS2 ports (JP/EU only). That being said I think having access to some of the best light gun games like Point Blank, Time Crisis 1,2, and *3 (euro version only), Vampire Night, and Elemental Gearbolt is a pretty solid selection if you were only going after one of these gun types. There's some other oddities that are from the PS1/PS2 but you can look those up yourself if you wanna delve deeper into the light gun catalogs. Ofc that's if you're going for original hardware, but there's definitely a scene for light gun gaming on PC with newer guns but those can be a bit costly depending on your setup and preferences, although it would probably offer the most accessibility, but I don't know too much about that scene. I know Saturn gets love too but outside of Virtua Cop and House of the Dead (which is very janky and slow), most of the games on Saturn are also on Playstation with maybe one or two exceptions.
I ended up getting two Japanese black Guncons for roughly $60 that came with a Japanese copy of Point Blank 1 which was a pretty nice deal.

>> No.10169694

>>10169670
Also wanted to add that if you go the PlayStation route, consider getting a multi-out adapter as it will allow for component cable support while also having ease of access to composite inputs for the video adapter on the Guncons. What I like about the Guncon 1 is that they have passthrough composite video cables because obviously people will want to play multiplayer, however they didn't do this with the Guncon 2's so you need to have a separate accessory for multiplayer. All-in-all light gun gaming is kinda a pain in the ass to setup and compatibility it annoying, but once everything comes together it's fucking joyous.
Original Xbox also has House of the Dead 3 (also includes 2) but the light guns for Xbox vary in quality because the only "official" one is the MadCatz blaster which looks like a water squirter, there's also like 2 real games that work with it which are HotD 3 and Silent Scope, and I think Starsky and Hutch but idk nor care. You'd probably be better off sticking to the Wii for HotD and some of Sega's other various light gun titles, but while the Wii sensor is pretty great for light gun gaming, it feels radically different from the traditional "LIGHT" gun gaming that uses CRTs. I'm probably just being an douche by saying that but even if you disable reticle aiming on Wii light gun games, it does not feel the same.
