I've come to realize Playstation is overrated. Was it better than N64 and Saturn? Yes, it was better. But those things severely lacked any games.

I used to think Playstation was really great because of arcade ports and sheer numbers, but now I realize the ports are quite bad, and that a lot of the games are not great. It still is the best option of its generation, but its generation is inferior to the one before it.

It's not that Saturn is a bad console, it's just that everything "good" about it is blown hilariously out of proportion, all while being sandwiched between two actually underrated consoles (CD and Dreamcast). Pretty much anything good you can say about Saturn can be said about any of SEGA's consoles

That and the Japanese library cope is a bad excuse, sure a handful of them are good but it isn't really the main appeal of any SEGA console. Kind of reminds me of the one anon who said Umihara Kawase on SNES is better than DKC2

This is the only correct answer. People put it on a pedestal as the "best console EVAR!!" despite having no games. No, you're library of trite Nintendo IP's, Squaresoft's RPG Maker shit from before they hit their prime on the PlayStation, and buckets of inferior ports and versions of games better played elsewhere do not make for a good console. The 16-bit era was the finest era in gaming by a long shot, but the shit SNES had staggeringly little to do with it.

If it wasn't for MGS and DMC, there would honestly be fairly few games on the PS2 to interest me.
Everyone was touching their dicks to GTA at the time, which frankly isn't very good, AND it was on PC. That's what makes the PS2 the "best console ever", apparently.

I actually would agree that the meme version of the SNES is fairly so-so.
I don't really care for a lot of the Nintendo entries, or any of those Square RPGs. I'm also just like fully bored of Megaman X at this point.
On the other hand, you have Pocky and Rocky, and Plok, and those games are secretly amazing.

All consoles are overrated, and anti-consoomer. Forcing customers to purchase one console over another in order to enjoy the games they want to play.

PC is an open platform, while being largely uniform. Windows is Windows, Linux is also Linux and you can package games as Appimages which will function properly across all distributions. Consoles are relics, and are basically scams at this point.

I owned Genesis, and I do think SNES had quantity on it's side, and there were some things it just had that Genesis didn't. Mega Man X? We had Vectorman....not as good. I'll always think Sonic games are more fun platformers than Mario or DKC to be honest, but pretending that's all that was on SNES + JRPGs is disingenuous

This is why I recommend mostly first party games on the Saturn. The people who play it only for Japanese games are literally a niche within a niche, like people who play only Japanese exclusives on the SNES. It took me a while to realize this
