Let's not go that far... The level design ranges from mediocre (Pink's stage, Orange's stage) to sub-par (Green's stage) to down-right shit (the never-ending fifth level or the garbage shmup stage), then finally ending in an underwhelming boss rush.

Gunstar is a 3/10 run 'n gun. Pretty much everything else mogs it: Contra, Metal Slug, even fucking Turrican on the Amiga is better.
