Which games do you think have the best use of colour? A great many Mega Drive games have really crushed darks, garish reds, pillow shading, and strange greys and maroons, so it's really nice whenever a game has a pastel colour scheme, a muted palette, or more balanced contrast. I guess this is the "Mega Drive games that pass for SNES games" thread

Here I have gradually upped the contrast of the Phantasy Star screenshot (obviously high contrast to begin with) and the Mickey Mouse screenshot (obviously low contrast). We can prove that the Phantasy Star screenshot is high contrast because it preserves a significant amount of information when the contrast is increased, unlike Mickey Mouse. Furthermore, the Phantasy Star screenshot begins to see diminishing returns for increased contrast as early as +50, whereas the Mickey Mouse screenshot continues to be dramatically sensitive to changes in contrast. Retard.

You really are a fucking retard, you know that? Mickey gets blasted out because THE HIGHS AND LOWS BECOME CONTRASTED, whereas the Phantasy Star screenshot doesn't suffer as much because THEY ARE ALREADY CONTRASTED. If two things are contrasted, then increasing the contrast will leave them still contrasted.

I'm not going to waste any more time on a disingenuous retard like you, so here is one more image: upping the contrast on a very low contrast image (a colourless gradient going from 61 brightness to 76 brightness) and a very high contrast image (black on one extreme and white on the other). Clearly and obviously, there is a more transformative effect when contrast is added where there had previously been none, you miserably retarded cunt. There's nothing I could say to sufficiently sum up how fucking mentally disabled you sound. I shouldn't have to create these comparisons to help articulate this simple concept to you when it should be easily understood even abstractively, and if you still cannot draw the appropriate conclusions from this you then you have an IQ below 90. It is astonishing that you have typed any of this garbage.

Super fantasy zone is just unreal but there are many other the cartoon looking games that are great too.

I know what you mean, many Genesis games have a sort of dirty grainy look to them somewhat like EGA graphics but a couple of steps about that. I really think part of it is that developers were using uncalibrated tv's and also it could have a been a style choice to have gritty realistic for the time graphics to be different from 8 bit systems.
The master system has plenty of those pastel coloured games so I think it was the developers choice.

>>10144420
I personally think the colours in alien storm are really good, not everyone agrees though. EA and many western especially sports games have that grainy look with clashing colours near each other but Kid Chameleon is one of the worst in a few levels.
