streaming retro games: lucrative?
is luck a necessary factor?

We already had this thread.
Yes luck is a factor, but you can help make your own luck. The more you stream and the better your content the more chances you have for your channel to get traction

where? I don't see any threads about streaming retro games anywhere in the catalog

Unless you're the top 1% of Mario 64, no.

Thats not luck. Just keep pushing and working until you make it. Also make good stuff.

Sorted.

Thread finished OP, you can go back to sucking cocks now.

Got 404'd because OP is a faggot. Did he not get his answer the first time? It was a pretty busy thread

Yes luck is a factor because the only people that watch streamers playing retro games are people with gambling addictions that you can abuse for profit. On that note, thread hidden.

The other thread 404'd, presumably because it's not really /vr/... Maybe try >>>/biz/ for this one

You're wrong though. Luck is for faggots who can't make shit happen for themselves.

I hate you you-farmers so fucking much.

yeah yeah we get it you're badass and you did everything for yourself. never once did circumstances line up in your favor independent of anything you could control.
rest easy in this delusion and go away.

>> No.10140398

>>10140390
Of course they did, but that balanced itself out with obstacles too. And that's the same for everyone. If you keep working hard and doing the best you can, eventually an opportunity will come, and the distinction is who can spot that opportunity and use it vs who can't. On top of that, you make opportunity whenever you can too.

Luck is a word that pussies use to justify not trying.

that's called luck, you absolute retard

>> No.10140409

No. Its called circumstance. Circumstances change, and relying on/hoping that things go my way would have meant that nothing ever happened.

>>10140404

Also to add to that, as I said before. Everyone gets that. Everyone gets the good and the bad, overall, it balances it out. It's the people who can move the curve upwards no matter what that get shit done.

The problem is that there is a fucking endless sea of content creators, so it is hard to be seen in a menaingful capacity. Even if you're decent, a lot of times it is some fortune (or an already established content creator) favoring you that results in people even seeing your output. I don't stream, but I've had certain pieces of fanart languish in my gallery for years with minimal traction, but then some ethot reposted it and the piece went on to become incredibly popular.
But yeah, if you totally suck, you're far less likely for that luck to ever happen.

>> No.10140493

>>10140465
literally nobody is saying that you fucking dork. when people say luck is a necessary element for success, they're talking about actively working toward your goal but also getting the right breaks, without which success is nigh impossible.

>is luck a necessary factor?
YES

There is this guy who streams the game "Populous: The Beginning" almost every single day. He produces a lot of videos for his YouTube channel. From watching his streams he has the full streamer set up and it doesn't look cheap.
What does he have to show for? 2400 subscribers after 6 years.

>> No.10140527

>>10140486
There are ways around that. Also you just let your fanart sit there and you waited for someone to find it. You could call that luck, but you're not even capable of doing anything with what was put in your lap. So what does it matter?

>>10140493
The right breaks come along for everyone who work hard enough, and on top of that, you're supposed make those breaks happen yourself. Contacting people, putting yourself out there, collaborating, interacting, networking.

If you get "lucky" and an opportunity comes your way, if you're not doing all that shit I mentioned above then you're not going to make use of it. Luck isn't relevant.

No way, the guy sat in a corner doing something nobody cares about hasn't received any attention? What a shocker. He's just unlucky!
