Star power, tanooki, hammer, none of these work. I had always wondered if a p block would work on them since it works on munchers and they're kinda like the land version of them. But I just found out that even though p blocks turn them into silver coins it doesn't destroy them and in fact you still take damage if you try to get the coins.

I think those statues in the final level are impossible to destroy as well

They're considered blocks and will turn to coins when a P-Switch is active, so not in SMB3, at least. On the flipside, they're so invincible in SMW that they can directly kill Mario even if he's riding Yoshi.

wha
I could have sworn riding Yoshi made them safe to walk over. I have this weird specific memory of reading a strategy guide that showed a "muncher shortcut" which required Yoshi.

They're not enemy objects but background tiles, like Munchers

If you bump them from the side while riding Yoshi, they'll directly damage/kill Mario instead of just throw him off his mount.

just like in real life
NOTHING KILLS THEM
upon death, they release hundreds of thousands of spores building their populace

international shipping barges take on water
then release the spores\invasive species
in the far future, nothing but jellyfish will remain

Maybe it was a change for the GBA version then; that was the one I played the most as a kid.

Splatoon has way more than just jellies, though
pretty much every major form of sea life is present in one form or another
plus two cats and a bear
