it's all about getting ahead as much as you can in the beginning. it will take a few tries. the straight parts on the track help immensely later on just go as fast as you can on them. take turns tight and on the inside corner. once you are in first it's easy to maintain without people rushing up on you. but crashing or spinning out will fuck you over and that will be an instant retry, so take it easy on the curves.

>Go until you see a pond on your right, go under the bridge and take left on that road after just seeing the checkpoint. Go until the end of it, this should lead you somewere close to the finish, you will see another checkpoint at it's end. And here comes the trick , after just entering the real road, press 0 on your numeric keys. This resets the car on the track just in front of the finish line.
There's a few ways of doing this, but basically you can make the game think you did a full lap when you are just doing a small bit. Then you reset your car, cross the finish line, repeat 5 times. You can finish the race before anyone else can do 2 laps. You're already cheating by breaking the opponents car, so who gives a shit if you force a win?

You just drive decently, it's not that hard.
Alternatively if gitting gud it out of the question, you can cheat. Gamefaqs probably still has the method noted.

go to gamefaqs dumbass

OP look up keybinds, there is analog steering, ASDW by default iirc, and digital steering which is bound to arrows. Difference is that with A/D your front wheels gradually change direction whereas with arrowkeys they immediately switch to leftmost/rightmost position. This makes a very big difference in steering. I found the game to be a breeze on arrowkeys even if I had to lightly tap it (again, iirc) in corners.

Play with a wheel.

>> No.10122619

Console ports improved the driving a lot, still had to start it on easy to win kek

the shortcut only works in 1.0, it was patched in 1.1/1.2 (the version depended on which localization you had, IIRC 1.1 was for the EN version and 1.2 for the original Czech version) when they added the race difficulty selection. If you can't beat the race on the lowest difficulty then you should stop playing the game thoughever

this worked like a charm, thank you

Awesome game too, one of my favourites of the era.

Why would you even play this game? This has been panned as one of the worst games out there. Are you some kind of stupid zoomer contrarian?

I think this advice works for every track in every racing game ever.

wanted to olay the gta saga chronologically and found this game that covered and earlier period. I saw some reviews for it and decided it was worth a try. I've been having a blast so far. I expect it stays good after i finnish the main storyline, if it doesn't then im moving on to Vice City. I expect the tone shift to be a bummer tho

lol yeah. I already wrote it out when I realized how general it is. oh well

Use the gamepad, op. It's really easy with analogue controls.

There is no side content after you complete the story. Its not that kind of a game. But story is pretty decent and missions are very memorable with little filler.

I assume you are confusing the game with something else, this has gotten great reviews on PC and the worse console ports were at worst deemed average.

Just race? Beat it in two tries because I upended the car the first time around. Never understood the complaints.

I used to use a trainer when it first came out. It changed your position to first and you just had to finish the race without flipping which was hard enough for me back then.

That's a shame, I actually prefer winning the race by cheating. I like the idea of the MC just blatantly cheating and skipping large portions of the race but still getting the trophy and the cheers of the crowd because they know he's a mob goon.

It was frustrating but I managed back in 2003. The controls are so touchy on that car...

Free Ride Extreme is one of the best pieces of bonus content I've ever played.
