With all of the Sonic ROM hacks out there, I'm honestly surprised that nobody has made a proper Sonic version of Puyo Puyo.

True kino would be Puyo x Mean Bean x Avalanche, just blend all the drop'em stack'ems into one huge, fun mess of a game.

That would be awesome

Not a ROM hack, but something like that already exists through Sonic Mania

That's a single boss fight that you can win without even trying. It's not a full game of Puyo Puyo or even a full round.

The real reason is this only provides superficial novelty and Puyo fans are all about gameplay. Why make this when there are Puyo games that are difficult to even play due to a lack of translations?

I'm convinced that Eggman and Robotnik are different people, Eggman sucks so hard at beans compared to Robotnik.

Dr. Robotniks lean mean green bean machine is the greatest puyo cluyone ever. Ya filthy crap basket

I miss Scratch, Grounder, and Coconuts. I like their design and personalities more than Orbot and Cubot. I like Robotnik as a name more than Eggman, too. Granted, I did grow up with AoStH, so I'm biased.

>> No.10121943

I don't understand why Mean Bean Machine hardly has Sonic characters in it to begin with. Who made that decision?
>you fight a bunch of rando robots, and you get to see Robotnik at the end
No one thought players might like to see Sonic somewhere in the game?

Good art. It has that nasty look that all of the American Mega Drive games had and I hate the American design of Eggman.
>>10121943
Exactly. Kirby did it right. I'd like to see regular Sonic characters in the game.

All of those "random robots" are in the cartoon, numb nuts.

The Puyo games already have your player character depicted in the game. That was an established part of the formula and they opted not to take that opportunity to use Sonic.
Probably was not Sega being assholes about the IP since they whored Sonic out to everyone else. I don't get it.

Conflicting branding issues with that Sonic puzzle arcade game they were making maybe? They didn't want people to confuse one for the other?

>> No.10121991

Yeah, in the very first episode as crowd-filler during Robotnik's series-setting exposition. Aside from Scratch, Grounder, and (to a lesser extent) Coconuts, Sonic never really encounters any of them.

The cartoon sucks. The only good Sonic adaptation is the OVA from Studio Pierrot. Everything else is garbage.

The Puyo characters are fine but I would like to see a proper Sonic edition.

its exactly the same game except for the character portraits. you have no argument for what a "proper" sonic version of puyo puyo would be.

>> No.10122805

>>10122239
The OVA is literally just Adventures' stupid-random wackyness except with more Japanese jokes. The Metal Sonic fight is the only thing worth watching from it.

Back when games were based and made you feel like the hero fighting a dangerous legion of robot enemies, instead of slop where you fight the same enemies in every single game because
>remember this thing? now you like our thing! worship our brand identity
I'm on an adventure to save Beanville, not at a LAN party with furries and motobugs

Coconuts, Grounder, and Scratch are basically the mini bosses of the game and are reflected in the order that you fight them in too. You go through three rounds of the 1st episode filler enemies, then fight one of the three main Robotnik baddies, and then you get the next three filler bots to fight with different and more intense music until you face Robotnik himself. I think AoStH was already out for about a few months at a time so I can see why they used those enemies to tie it in with the show to generate more interest. I didn't even know who the others were until I rented the pilot from Blockbuster a couple years after it was taken off the air. I think the only one that wasn't in the show was >>10123407

That was a little weird though I agree. I remember hearing that you are Sonic and Tails, but it's from a first person perspective and this was reflected by the colors of the joystick and buttons being Sonic and Tails primary colors. But I remember everyone that played asked where Sonic was whenever they played it for the first time.
