Did Geckt casting-couch his way into the game?

He went from just singing the theme song in Dirge of Cerberus to being the lead antagonist in Crisis Core, where he was redacted into being arguably the most important character in the series, and then went on to scuttle the entire FFVII franchise for seemingly no reason at all when he refused to come back for a followup, because apparently he had a good enough deal to where they couldn't use the character without his permission.

How the fuck does that happen? He must've blown Nomura's back out something fierce to get that sweetheart a deal.

He sang the theme song, and had a two-minute cameo in the secret ending of DoC. By the next game, he was retconned into being the most important character in the story, capable of single-handedly waging a war against both Zack and all of the prior antagonists of the original game combined, directly inspiring Sephiroth turning evil, Zack turning good, and thus the vast majority of FFVII's key plotpoints directly trace to him. And thanks to this being the secret ending, we know he somehow managed to survive both a terminal illness and being killed by Zack:

Presumably in the next game, he would've been louder, angrier, and would've had access to a time machine. But because of his sweetheart deal and whatever falling-out he had with Nomura and Square, we'll never know for sure. They had to reboot the universe just to cover for Tetsuya-kun getting his holes stretched by his living jerkoff fantasy. What an all-time of a fuckup this was.

Not that FFVII was anywhere near immaculately plotted, but Crisis Core absolutely assrapes the entire plot of the original game. Like, seriously, the supreme goddess of their world has the power to just bring people back to the dead at will?
