I got the book by Steve Hugg called programming games for the 2600. I just find video tutorials harder to follow. Its really good but I stopped around the middle to do z80 stuff.
It was a little expensive but it was worth it for how much info is in it. It doesn't teach 6502 from scratch, you need other documentation to help you out with the actual 6502 so I used another one called Assembly Programming with ChibiAkumas to look up what instructions I should use.
Towards the later part of the book it started getting more complicated and it took longer to complete the lessons, the book helped me just learn assembly in general. I used to just read the book on breaks at my work, another advantage of a book over videos.
I basically went not knowing assembly to working on my own demos for 2600, nes and master system.

Because without it it's too challenging to get the game running on a stock SNES.
>reduce piracy
Reduce piracy is just an added bonus they said.

From what they've said we know part of it has to be audio related as they're most likely going to be streaming recordings of the Genesis music. So that could be something MSU-1 like. Others in the SNES dev scene have speculated for just quickly getting it running it could be a Genesis on a Chip running the game with some additional circuitry to convert the output to something the SNES can display.

We wont know for sure what all it's doing until it's released, but regardless it's not running on a stock SNES.

Hopefully someday people recognize that the capability of "AI" depends on the data it's "trained" on. It's a weighted graph that when traversed in a particular way produces a node representing a statistical outcome. When your graph is trained on data scraped from the internet, it will usually produce nonsense.
It is inconceivable that AI will ever accelerate homebrew dev unless someone curates a robust, application-specific data model that produces outcomes it was designed to produce.

It doesn't matter whether it works or not (not convinced it does, but this is not the place for this) the point is that it isn't novel. The logic is trivial, but the interface is new and is intended to be used by people who aren't programmers in the first place.
Being able to replace work people do is a matter of statistics but you've been sold the idea that it's a matter of technological complexity, which has evidently led you to believe this is an inevitability rather than an existing long-term business strategy for profit maximization. >what's your dream game /vr/ ?
If Romhack, it would be an expanded Metal Warriors game with more maps, better AI and even OC mechs.
Non romhack would be Alien Soldier remade by PlatinumGames similar to Transformers: Devastation. Bullet hell with a lot of parrying and dashing in a 3D environment, fighting bosses nonstop. Bring Hideyuki Suganami to go crazy on the plot and expand that fever dream.

> you've been sold the idea that ... this is an inevitability
well, the current data shows that GPT / LLMs with more horsepower and data tend to develop new and emergent abilities, and as more horsepower and data thrown at this thing, the current data points to this trend continuing. Ilya Sutskever believes this, the man pictured in my last post and the lead architect behind GPT 4. but you didn't know that, did you?
the main problem right now is horsepower, and as the last 40 years of technological progress has shown, that will not be a problem for long...

Second this. Full quiet has the best soundtrack of any NES game ever (which is saying a lot because the battletoads soundtrack is pretty bitching)

Anybody have any info on how to add memory to a dos game? Specifically arena. It runs out of memory for map data.

>> No.10127990

>>10127813
ehhhhhh that could be a tricky proposition. see if there's source code or any info on the game. see if it uses DOS4GW and learn how that works. also mem locations can be hardcoded in C/ASM so that could be a major project...

>> No.10128034

>>10127813
You mean the Memory List Blown error? You can pretty much eliminate that error entirely by using QEMM instead of EMM386. 634K free conventional RAM should be more than enough even for Arena. If you're using DOSbox though, good luck. It's hard enough getting things that aren't games to run on DOSbox, much less a system driver like a memory manager.

This is about as good as I can do, so I'm calling it done: https://github.com/Asbestoast/NjmgTool/releases
Note that I'm no expert in Japanese, so there may be translation issues here and there. Also, the source code is pretty rough, but it gets the job done I guess. Do with it what you will.

This is beyond awesome, man. Thank you!

What would be a good translation of "nekojara"? This page http://thejadednetwork.com/sfx/browse/jara_jara/
says "jarajara" means "*ka-ching*", so would a translated title be something like "Cat-ching Story"?

I believe that "Nekojara" is short for "nekojarashi", which can mean either green foxtail or cat teaser. If you look around, you'll even see green foxtails in some of the menus.

I had tried playing it, but I got stuck after getting the dynamite in the logging area. I'm not sure if I missed an area or if I should go back to the crags and try and clear out those huge fungal walls.

I went through that huge cavern in the logging area but only got a flash ring for my troubles (Not sure if there's more there, feels too big just to have a single consumable item), wandered around the forest after the tower but couldn't find a camp, and now I backtracked to crags to try and advance past those tall walls and see what I can find, but killing them with the limited ammo I have for the uzi and dynamite is just frustrating.

Meant to say super international cricket is on snes, which is why I put the other patch up. I think I prefer it to Brian Lara. Aren't many decent rugby league games for classic consoles so the reskin of rugby world cup 95 was good enough for me. Also, got some modern roster hacks for this and Tecmo Bowl. Never really played sports games growing up, but I'm having a blast with them.
