Is a PSP 2000 the best device to play PSX games on the go? If not, what is?

Not retro, but Steam Deck

I have a PSP, Vita, however not a Steam Deck as that's just cringe. But the PSP lacks the buttons for L2/R2 and it's a paid. A decent phone or tablet with a bluetooth controller of your choice is the correct answer.

I had CFW on my PSP via the GTA hack and know the struggle all too well. Those were good days.

Almost everything runs perfect. Analog drift is a problem with the PSP-2000.
The 3000 has a brighter screen and Vita has dual analog if either of those two options interest you. Idk about either. I still have the same PSP-2001 that I used a Pandora Battery to hack 15 years ago

Laptop computer, even an older one. I actually played PSP extensively for like 10 years, but it wasn't the greatest for the ps1 games. They ran correctly but the small screen sucked you had shitty scaling or made the image even smaller, the controls sucked, there was no good option for 2 player. A shitty laptop and some controllers is better, i played crash bash with 4 people with that setup all the time. if you need it to be HANDHELD probably the switch or some other tablet with controller.

No, the Vita is better. It has no TV-out (which you are not interested in), but the screen is bigger, has double resolution, and is overall better, especially the OLED screen. Also, unlike the (non-Go) PSP, it has true analog input.

A PSP has good but not perfect compatibility through the official emulator but its biggest issue is the lack of analog input.

This >>10088289 is a defective screen btw.
I have 2 OLED Vitas made in 2012 (date codes 2A and 2B) and mura on one of them looks like 2 fingerprints between center and top-right corner of the screen; the other one has nothing noticeable (probably hidden by the screen protector; this Vita has much lower max brightness vs. the one with mura and naked screen).

Vita ps1 emulation is ass, you're limited to a single version of the pspemu and it doesn't have full coverage. You wouldn't be able to play DQ7 for example. Ps1 via emulation on the Vita is horrid too, just play it on the phone and pick a good usb-c controller. I got a. Sub $300 phone and I can even emulate ps2 for what's worth.

>>10089970
If you don't want to hook it up to a TV then the Street is the best due to the screen. It doesn't have wifi though but who cares, the only other downside is that it has one speaker but you can just plug in headphones

You're retarded, you would adjust for timing without even thinking about it. Think about Castlevania on the NES, theres a built in delay to the whip, but people learn the timing and forget about it. What you've shown there is not a latency test, it's a timing test.

An actual latency test would be rhythm games, but especially the rhythm combos on Mother 3.

Honestly a chink handheld is your best bet for PS1, unless you don't intend to play games that make use of all four shoulders at once.
Source: I went through all of Gen1 Armored Core on an Anbernic RG351MP, and it was pretty good (though I'd say get a slightly newer device if you can help it, as PCSX-ReARMed still has dumb issues like menu SFX mangling for Xenogears)

you literally have to solder about 9 tiny connectors 2 times on both ends to get this mod. meanwhile battery mod only takes 2 big connectors on one end. so if you wanna make use of psp go with bigger than 16gbs of internal storage, you have to work for it more so than battery mods

Nobody but other gamers care how you look playing games in public and if you respect the opinions of random gamers you deserve to get made fun of by them. Phone clips sell because controllers are more ergonomic than portables alone. Just look at how many accessories are made with the express purpose of making systems more ergonomic and in turn more bulky.

Early OLED displays didn't really suffer from burn in. The Vita display specifically has two main issues: smudges and losing colors
Smudges were a problem from day one. If you look at a fully black screen on the Vita it looks awful. Nothing you can do about it.
Losing color is due to it being an early OLED. Due to being Organic material the pixels on the OLED display slowly lose their color accuracy over time. Blue is usually the first color to go, this is also an issue on other early OLED displays like the Samsung Galaxy S2.
