This era of NP feels so aimless. In it's golden years, most of the magazine was strategy guides, level maps, and cheat codes. They moved away from all of that, which only left them with interviews and news that everyone had already read online a few months before. It doesn't help that the simplistic graphic design is very bland and indistinct.

For me, today, the text-heavy content of these issues is far more useful than the old graphical content was. Almost all the information is new to me, and I never wanted to cheat with those old maps and things anyhow, though they were always intriguing to glance over even when I had no intention of playing the actual games. But if I'd been interested in the latest Nintendo news at that time then yeah I probably would have just used websites. I guess if you didn't really care about the very freshest news (which I wouldn't have), and you didn't happen to care at all about Xbox 360 or PS3 (for... some reason), and you happened to like the voices of Nintendo Power's writers and the quality of the magazine's special features (this seems unlikely; the magazine is just "good enough as long as it's free" in my view), then maybe you would be motivated to keep paying for a subscription. It's easy to imagine the magazine struggling at this point even as Nintendo itself flourished.

It'd be nice if at least NP could have provided one benefit over free, ad-supported websites by removing their own ads, but apparently that wasn't something they could afford to do. Well, goodbye to you then, print media. After another twenty threads I mean.

OP here. I am the second Nintendo Power Storytime OP. The first one had a 4chan pass and stopped posting when it expired. I have no pass. I make posting these tolerable by combining pages into pairs to reduce delay between posts. I think a pass reduces that time as well, though I'm not certain. The captchas are mostly irrelevant to me because I don't mind solving them and the site most often lets one solution cover several consecutive posts. People speculating about what conspiracy is going on here are wrong. The explanation is that some weirdo decided to do this and some other weirdo(s) independently decided to allow it... apparently. My reason is that I wanted to read the whole magazine (not just the old parts) and this motivated me to stick with it. The moderation staff's reason is something I can't tell you. As far as I know the reason nobody posts other magazines is simply that they aren't interested enough to bother doing it. Please feel free to talk about old video games here if you want (the magazine will obviously never completely stop referring to them), or to ignore these harmless threads while they run their course (there aren't many left to post) or until they are forcibly stopped, as the case may be. Please remember that extended "meta" discussion of community norms, forum rules, and wild conspiracy theories about payoffs from Nintendo is probably even less on-topic in /vr/ than a full-page ad for a Wii game is.
