SNES games unreleased in the west thread

Which ones have you played? Which one is your favorite? Which ones do you think deserve more recognition?

I fucking love Tales of Phantasia, it's not necessarily my favorite but it was the first fan translated game I played on an emulator and I still think it's better than every remake that has come since.

Most DBZ games of Super Nintendo actually came out in the west (Europe), but not the Super Goku-den games, and I love them, played them much later on emulators and then I got the real carts to play on real hardware too. Replay them often, very addictive.
They're fan favorites in Japan as well, a shame they didn't try to localize but I guess the weird VN/RPG hybrid nature and the fact they were late SFC games didn't convince Bandai, also lots of text to translate.

In the topic of RPGs, Star Ocean is another banger. The amount of content and replayability in this game is crazy for a game of this era, and like ToP it's got that fantastic pixel art, great music and gameplay

super bonk 2 doesn't get enough attention. it's far better than bonk 3 and super bonk. it retains some of the features that made bonk 2 so good, like high road/low road level design, and mini boss fights

zenki battle raiden is another one. its by the devs who made hagane and sapphire. the moveset is very impressive and the graphics are beautiful

This is the most egregious to me. The prior game had a good following in the west. They wasted money on Evermore instead of just translating this if you ask me.

Can you explain how combat works? I've played this up to the group getting beamed up to a space ship and I just mashed buttons and hoped my partners didn't die.

I just started playing "Far East of Eden - Zero" and it's kinda lame. I wish there was a translation of Far East of Eden 4:Apocalypse because it's set in a whacky version of America. The monsters look great though and the dialogue is very, very extensive so the world feels fairly fleshed out.

I just got a translated rom with all the hmong balance updates on romhacking net. This guy released like 7 or 8 different balance patches that improve or change various things in the game. It truly feels like an amazing overhaul playing it updated like this. And they really only came out in the last year or so, the amount of amazing overhaul patches for SNES games has been great to see recently. I have overhauled/bug fixed/balanced/added content patches for FF4, FF5, and FF6 as well all made in the last 2 years.

Front Mission Gun Hazard is one of the most fun ARPGs I've played. It's just really cool that such a good almost arcade side scrolling shooter comes with an epic mecha RPG story and tons of weapons and items and levels to gain. Easily one of the best games that never left Japan.

Mystery of the Emblem Book 1 is a good remake of FE1, Book 2 is a mess with poorly designed maps.
Seisen no Keifu is a must-play.
Thracia is... good (it's complicated).
>>10075545
>Star Ocean
Boring gameplay. Story lacks focus. Final boss come out of fucking nowhere. No world map, inter-town corridors are boring to go back and forth through. I don't like it.

If you speak Japanese the PSP has full voice acting and skits. If not the PS1 is good enough. Don't touch the GBA version.
Every version after the SNES version has an improved battle system so i'd say don't touch the snes version either, unless you already played the game and are curious to check out the original.

They should have ported it to the ps1 with extra content from the OVA. People would have gone nuts for this game in the west after it aired on cartoon network.
