Do you sometimes prefer playing the inferior version or port of a game and you are aware is inferior, but you still prefer it and can't really explain why?

I'm at the point in gaming where I find playing the best and most approved versions of games to be uninteresting. Whenever I just tell someone I'm playing quake on saturn or half-life on ps2 they recoil and come at my with ferocious indignation.

Look, I've been playing the best and most apprvoed versions of games for like 20 years now. Whatever you have to tell me about how much better the 360 version of Quake 2 is over the PS1 version believe me - I know. I was telling people it 15 years ago. It's nothing new. I bet you don't know all the great things about these weird versions of the games however. How Saturn Quake has a voice acted Dank and Scuz comic. How Deus Ex on PS2 has a weird version of the NY bar music.

I'm tired of bests, give me weird.

I love the Game Gear version of Ristar more than the Genesis version. It just had a better feel on the GG, they also added little things to this version that I wish the Genesis game had. Probably just my favorite GG game in general.

Asterix for the NES is more fun than the SNES one and a has a much better music. Even being shorter play on its favor, as the 16 bits one quickly becomes repetitive.

This is how I am with Harvest Moon GBC. I don't really consider it inferior to the console version despite some features being removed, and it's interesting that the Game Boy version got more direct sequels than the SNES version. For me it's just a cozier, more relaxed (and better) alternative to Pokemon. There's also Game Boy Tetris but I think most would agree that it is in fact the superior version.

I'm actually glad you mentioned this game, I tried it out last year and actually had a blast with it. The redbook audio is fantastic and really adds to the atmosphere.

Because the port is more easily accessed than just booting on the PC or playing on a physical console.
