I don't think this thread will get much, but I see no one talking about this game. I find that to be quite sad as it is the best 2D Spidey game.

Not only is it a good Spidey game, but it is a good solid action platformer. It does a strangely good job of making you feel like a Spider for a 2D movie tie in.

Most Spider Man games on the GBA were lazy shovelware but Ultimate Spider Man was pretty good

Yeah I always felt this and Spider-Man 2 were great. Spider-Man 3 on the GBA was crap though

I wouldn't go that far, as Spider-Man's 2D career is way better than most people give it credit for some reason, I guess 3D just does the character and his powers more justice, but 2D's perfectly valid too. I personally prefer Spider-Man vs. The Kingpin and Spider-Man: Mysterio's Menace for 2D Spider-Man, never managed to get into this one for some reason.

I’ve never enjoyed a 2D Spiderman game to be honest. Most of the time your swinging is way too fast to react to what’s ahead and Spidey sticks to every surface he comes in contact with. Both issues are present in this game.

The best one I can think of is Maximum Carnage, and that’s only because it’s more of a beat em up than a side scroller.

Is this the one game where you crawl inside the building getting keys or some shit within time limit?

Wait, no, that was Spider-Man 3.God, that was so bad.

This one looks just slightly better. At least you can web swing outside.

2D Spider-Man doesn't get enough love, of course the 3D stuff represents his powers and the feel of being Spider-Man a lot better, but that doesn't mean that the 2D stuff, both from the 20th and 21st century, don't have their merits, because they do, and quite a lot.

Spider-Man vs. The Kingpin (SMD)
The Amazing Spider-Man vs. The Kingpin (SCD)
Spider-Man: Return of the Sinister Six (NES)
Spider-Man (GBC)
Spider-Man 2: Sinister Six (GBC)
Spider-Man: Mysterio's Menace (GBA)

A ton of good stuff, and these are just the ones I've managed to beat in the last few years, there are others to play and, while a ton of them really are bad and don't hold up, so many of them are still fun to play even nowadays with all of the 3D stuff we've got after it.

I never played it because I can't bring myself to care about Spider-Man, but I'll give it the tangential support that similarly no one gives love to the GBA Tom Raider, which is a surprisingly good Prince of Persia clone.

These games somehow felt cheap and high budget at the same time. I liked them alright tho.

Because they were mid to high budget GBA games done by shitty western developers.
