Neither. Originally I was just collecting for SNES and kept my games tucked away in a drawer. Then over time I picked up more games and consoles and my collection steadily increased. At first I filled the drawer. Then another drawer. Eventually the whole chest. Then I moved all of my carts to the closet. Then more recently I emptied out the right half of the closet (the half you can see in this photo) to use that for additional storage space. There was some empty space in the center after placing shelves along the middle, right wall and back wall, and that space just so happened to be big enough to place a CRT so I put one there. The left half (not shown) has drawers and shelves full of carts, and behind that is some storage items.

I like the closet because there's a lot of space so it's an excellent place to keep everything organized. Additionally, it keeps my collection safe from UV light which will keep my cards from fading or yellowing. At the same time, all I have to do is slide open a door and a world of fun awaits.

The rest of that room (it's actually my bedroom) has a bunch of game stuff in it like guide books, "mooks", a display shelf with various boxed games, posters, etc so it's not a matter of trying to hide anything.

It's pretty cosy anon, I like the imagery of it all being a different world one door awat. I need to look at putting some doors on my cabinets as all my stuff is sun stroked enough as is. Glad it works for you.

Thanks. I genuinely think it's the best way to store a game library. Whenever I see YouTubers with a million games on a shelf in a room with windows I always cringe a little because it's only a matter of time until they make a video crying about sun damage.

A couple weeks back I was in a crt general here and talking about the old girl.
Well today we were cleaning up the attic and I decided to check if she still works and what do you know, she does.
Unfortunately I can't repurpose her for retro games. One, because she doesn't have component input on the back and I use that for PS2, and two because the missus doesn't want "any more toys clogging up my walls".
