This game was so fucking fun back in the 90s. I use to rent an n64 and play the shit out of this then make the sound effects and music with my mouth since I was an idiot little kid.

Best fun until I got a Dreamcast and Powerstone.

This was one of my first N64 games. Such a chill soundtrack and atmosphere, also it has two soundtracks, the original and the Player's Choice one which is what I had

also the rumble pack version has 2 different tracks

>be me, 9 years old, summer 1997
>schools out for summer
>mom takes me to local independent rental shop
>see Waverace 64 and rent it
>take it home on a Tuesday afternoon
>summer afternoon sun shining through bedroom windows
>start race around Dolphin Park
>music, gameplay, visuals, everything draws me in instantly
>play for the rest of the afternoon and into the evening
>literally not a care in the world beyond enjoying one of the most classic N64 games ever made

I wouldn't trade being a kid in the 90s for anything in the world. It was pure magic.

My parents got me this game as a doctor's recommendation after I lost my right eye (car accident). I found it to be incredibly hard, but being 9y/o, one eyed and on pills most of the time I think I did pretty good. The game got a lot more fun when I got to play it when I wanted instead of as part of my physical therapy. Nothing but good memories.

My whole summer of '97 was spending the whole day with my friends swimming in the pool, then coming home in the afternoon and play WR64. I was in the water the whole day, physically and virtually.
I agree with you, I wouldn't change being a kid in the 90s for any other decade (especially not modern times)

I vividly remember being in my room, feeling all chill after a day at the pool, and playing WR64 as the last rays of sunlight lit the sky during the sunset, then playing until it was dinner time later in the night.

Looks like you skipped the tutorial, it's a trick focused game. Despite being on the first stage you missed a buoy too so maybe once you practice a little you'll get better and enjoy it more. Here is how a more skilled player performs.

Yeah, much more exciting than the other guy. I think playing on easy and barely engaging with the mechanics is like playing mario 64 with a d-pad and wondering why the game feels stiff.

No game will ever match it, we're talking about EAD at their prime. Perfect gameplay, all the tracks are unique, perfect balance and length of the tracks. I mainly use Dave Mariner for the TT and Miles Jeter for the tighter tracks both with custom Jet Sky settings.
