I am absolutely dead serious on buying an NES Advantage. Which games do you recommend I play it with? I will not change my mind, nor will I hesitate. Don't fucking convince or warn me, because I will buy an NES Advantage and play some games with it

Anon, you should know what you want to use something for before you buy it. Post hand

I had one of these when I was real little. or rather my parents had one. it filled my lap and felt like a brick. I remember the stick not working very well.

anyway, you should get some of the old arcade ports: Mario Bros (not SMB), Donkey Kong (Jr / 3), Burger Time, Pac-Man, etc

It is compared to an arcade joystick.
The NES advantage uses a rubber membrane instead of microswitches.

>> No.10040108

My best friend when I was a kid had one of these. It was not very good. He rarely used it.
The slow button just autopresses the start button. So uh... my recommendation is to use it on a game that uses the start button to pause, i.e. not Zelda I or Mike Tyson's Punch-out. The autofire could be useful for shoot-em-ups. So maybe 1943, Gradius, Life Force.

I've been wondering that myself. I like everything but the stick, which is what kills the whole thing.

This
Movement sucks with the Advantage.
Also the buttons stick if you push them in on an angle instead of the center.

OP please do yourself a favor and just buy or build a fightstick with some Sanwa or Seimitsu parts in it. I used to play NES with my fightstick exclusively and it was a blast, but you're going to hate using the Advantage.

>> No.10040613

>>10040452
If he can find one with a busted membrane stick, he could use that as an excuse to retrofit it with a microswitched one or something. Never had issues with the buttons sticking, but I know that these things were made by multiple different manufacturers and not 100% the same specs, slight variation on all, so maybe some had not quite so good buttons.

the stick has aged poorly
play forgiving titles or something that benefits from the turbo functionality
the rabbit hole has begun to form
ascii makes a SNES advantage that looks like the fucking snes
they also make a decent one that looks like the ps1 kek (i have all of them)

>> No.10040846

Aged poorly? I thought it was bad when I tried it in the 90s, at maybe age 4 or 5, before I was old enough to develop any cynicism.
>Man, the turbo buttons are cool and I like the heft, but the steering with the stick is just not as good as steering with the cross on the normal gamepad.
Mario games, being platformers with lots of movement momentum, were perhaps the worst suited for this thing.

That thing is dogshit, the rubber membranes feel horrible on such large buttons. Build your own arcade controller yourself like a man. Pic related, one I built using an NES max, the shell of a cheap mayflash stick and Sanwa buttons/Stick

>> No.10042424

>>10039287
Does this thing actually give you an advantage in any way outside of the turbo functions? It looks like it would be more awkward to use for most NES games than the standard controller. I know it's for people used to arcade games but not that many worthwhile NES games are arcade ports in the first place.

I just opened it up to figure out who's shitty parts they used, but it turns out whoever assembled this thing didn't have the restrictor plate locked into place properly.
It's still probably the cheapest parts Sanwa ever made, but at least diagonals work relatively consistently now.
