The fact that Zniggy actually became a thing shows how important the ZX Spectrum was for the UK games industry.
I still believe the bedroom coders of the 80s provided the foundation of the strong UK development studios of the 90s and 00s.

There were some really talented Spanish and Russian developers on the Speccy too. Although their game industries didn't really blossom after.

I even like the colours.
