In the hospital map of Trauma Therapy, the incinerator has clipping issues and when i activate it the body doesn't slide inside but stay at the same place and just disappears, leaving 2 life seeds instead of one.
I don't know if the glitch is inherent to the last TT version or NotBlood/Nblood nor how it works but just putting this here.

You need to switch to the correct slot. Zoom + Use + Alt Reload for the Blackjack iirc. Weapons and items in DS have 3 arbitrary ammo slots: Ammo, Mag, and Alt (not all are always used). You need to select the corresponding slot to cycle the ammo in it. The Bjack uses the slots for the SMG chamber, magazine, and tube, respectively. As for the message not appearing, that is a known thing and it happens with all weapons. I haven't spent too much time fixing it because it's a minor visual bug and it'd overcomplicate the cycling code unnecessarily.

Cycling is a bit obscure and sometimes it's not at all obvious what you've selected at the moment. Technically it's up to the weapons to display that. Most of them either only bother for the Ammo slot (Shotguns, Scorpion) or Alt slot (MBR, Blackjack). Custom magazine support was implemented fairly recently and only the Majestic has an addon for it, so I never bothered with the UI portion for that. Plus you can see it in the mag selector during reload.

640x480 is not native. Doom's graphics were made for a 320x200 DOS video mode with 1.2x pixel height. Not sure what the misunderstanding is desu, so I'll end up repeating some things.

The 200p intermission graphics and other HUD elements are not supposed to be rendered square. They need to be stretched vertically by 1.2x, so for that to result in equally sized scaled pixels (which is the sought benefit of integer scaling, right?), when your actual screen has square pixels, you'd need 1200p screen resolution MINIMUM. You have a 1080p screen, so it cannot be done.
The 3D stuff could be rendered with square pixels and in any resolution. But GZDoom has no options to render and scale the HUD separately from the game scene, you have to pick one resolution for both. So if you want roughly 480p game rendering, but not to fuck up the HUD elements etc. (which I assume based on your initial pic), the closest is 400p. Pic rel. Now you need to scale that up while also stretching it vertically. How? Well, to do it with equally sized pixels, you'd need a 3200x2400+ screen which you don't have. Second best option is nearest scaling it to what you do have. Some of the resulting crunchy pixels will be off by one SCREEN pixel, but there won't be RENDERING pixel sized artifacts like there would be when forcing 200p graphics onto a 480p canvas as in your original pic.

Secrets continue to be a tremendous ballache to find and often not worth bothering with. That megahealth + quad? better have rocket ammo and enough health for 3 consecutive rocket jumps. And that was just the obvious one I could see. Activated a floor panel secret that just spawned 20 crawling hands and a bunch of knights for no benefit. I'll be glad to finish this mapset and go back to finishing something less frustrating.

Is there anything I can do to make boss actions in umapinfo more consistent? My map has waves of enemies and won't progress until all of them are dead. Alkaline has easier encounters in general, and is far more forgiving with ammo placements and respawning boxes. Before the butt buddy hugbox forums that is slipseer came out, everyone was till hanging at quaddicted and dumptruck's former mapping discord.
During this time, ter shibboleth and fairweather's non gimmicky map came out.
People praised ter shib for being great while the sheep's map was quite mediocre, this made him tear his butthole out with his fingernails in rage.
In retaliation, he and his friends went on to give a ton of low rating reviews to make his map look better, spirit caught that and shitshow cometh.
This alone almost cracked the community in two, and spirit almost nuked the servers trying to revert the obvious troll ratings(it wouldn't be the first time), the only one that is left there til this day is the sheep giving a low rating out of spite.

Oh yeah, I played Combine(d?)_Arms for the first time the other day, on a random Z& server.
The wall kick is an absolute show-stealer for me. I literally don't remember anything else except that I avoided the caltrops SSG like the plague (ironic, since a caltrops bomb is part of my own custom weapon designs.)
The SMG also felt pretty lousy to use against mid-to-high tiers despite ostensibly being an ammo replenishment utility—that is to say, I found it ironic that when I needed ammo the most, the "ammo-getting gun" felt largely useless. But that could easily be a lack of experience on my part; per that and the SSG thing, I'm probably missing the nuances of some of the weapons (other than "low DPS weapon bad for high HP enemes".)
Other than that, no complaints about anything. I loved grabbing Baratus's mace.

I might speed up how quickly the other barrels deploy on the SMG, and maybe alter the ammo building attack, but otherwise I think it's in a good place. Just treat it like a vanilla chaingun that has a fire rate ramp up and an altfire that can net you some ammo at close range.
As for the SSG slot for the default set, treat it more like a weapon to use in preparation of a room that you know is going to fill up with bullshit. Detonating the caltrops with altfire can also make monsters really unhappy in small rooms. The standard shotgun is pretty damn effective all around. I usually treat SSGs like a wild card in my mods. Or just merge them with the shotgun.

Is the ammo cap. the same as vanilla? For my experience, the SMG felt better for packs of low-tiers as a burst weapon, but the largest single target I remember taking-down was maybe a Revenant? Versus the vanilla CG taking down a Manc, even if it takes a fucking month.
Also, can't believe I forgot in the other post, but the Shotgun was absolutely my favorite part of the set. The alt-fire made it great for navigation, even more so than the wall-kick (I have never played whatever game had the quad-shotgun in it.) Since I was playing a Z& PUG, there wasn't really time to approach fights tactically, so that's probably why I didn't get much use out of the SSG. But sequence breaking with the wall kicks and SG alt-fire was satisfying without feeling cheap. Shit was SO cash.

The hammer's disgusting too. It actually gets weaker when you have a Tome of Power because it becomes unable to arc lightning to enemies in melee when it can normally do that for free infinitely even if you're out of cells. It twoshots Shamblers for no ammo cost. The ice and lightning staff is awkward and ineffective. I don't know why it's on slot 2. The wand largely obsoletes the shotgun and axe with infinite ammo and greater burst damage and provides additional utility besides. I don't know why it's on slot 0. I don't know what role the lava nailguns are supposed to fill, they hardly feel like they have better damage than the normal ones so it might as well just be for flavor. All it really provides me is another weapon to scroll past as I alternate between hammer and mace because nothing else matters.

Here's how that looks like on my end. Tested with GZ 4.10 and a clean config. Not that bad on the left column. It's only by switching the resolution scale to other settings like "Custom", "Normal" with low scale factor or "Lowest possible" that I can get it to really look bad. Whatever "Custom" is seems unusably broken anyway: no matter what I set the width/height to, upon restarting the game they always reset to 320/200 with terrible scaling.

It's not completely issue-free, though. For some things like prompt messages in menus and ENDOOM, ugly scaling just seems to be unavoidable with the low rendering resolutions.

From what I tried, Vanilla Essence manages to avoid all these issues with the way it implements low resolution. Seems like it just pixelates the high res frames. It's wasteful, but works, and allows things like 360p and 540p modes with which you can get 2x or 3x square pixels on a 1080p screen *separately* from the HUD so it won't get distorted. Downsides include having to manually toggle the "vanilla mode" on every time and having to go through the options to carefully inspect all the other changes it does to disable unwanted ones.

Alright. She did seem to have some trouble getting through the portal to the armory. I don't know if it's supposed to, but Mass Recall didn't summon her. I'll bring her along for more stuff once I get the last bit of BD lore. And I have two VM aborts and a Venom thing to report. For the Venom she'd continue trying to fire it even when the enemy was dead and and the gun was overheating. She'd also try to fire even when she was out of ammo for it.

I got this first VM abort when I gave her a Viper and told her to stay in one spot at the firing range while I let her kill mummies. All the magazines had only one round because I wanted to see what happened when she ran out.

I don't suppose there's a way to make them refill their own mags? Because it seems for convenience's sake that it'd be better to give them directly-fed weapons. Or energy weapons with a bunch of Flux batteries.

All the sprites and graphics in all of Doom and Doom 2 are supposed to be stretched vertically by x1.2, you'll get some weirdly squat and disproportionate monsters otherwise, which won't be accurate in scale to their original physical models. Cacos and rocket explosions also become oval instead of being properly square.

The main exception to this is flats, as you'd veiw them from any angle, thus they always get stretched in a different direction, so there's no real way to design flat textures around the aspect ratio intentionally. Most people don't think about or notice that part though.

They don't, infinite height is a misnomer (outside of explosions, which aren't themselves entities, rather an action of one). Every entity in the game has defined and finite height, the player, the monsters, the items, the decorations and the projectiles, all of them have a height value, and this value is calculated for in regards to hit detection and collision.

Players and monsters can't intersect, and monster melee attacks don't check for height (though they used to in the early commercial versions when they functioned like short ranged hitscans).

Hilariously ez. The problem lies in making the AI smart enough to know what type to reload if given two types of the same ammo. The easiest thing would be to just have them slowly fill up partial mags out of combat and prioritize the vanilla ammo first. That'll work fine for 99% of cases. I'll look into it this weekend. I can imagine having to stop to reload 50 mags manually isn't exactly great fun. Plus that way you can use them as an automatic reloader if you can't be arsed to do it yourself. I like the idea. Gonna see if I can add support for the mag reloader addon too, assuming it doesn't already work.

As for the Scorpion, keep in mind some weapons have a minimum priority requirement so followers will not target low-tier enemies with powerful weapons to avoid wasting expensive ammo. I'd say the endless hunting of switch sequences and keys, all very charitably proclaimed as "puzzles," as if there was any particular logic to figure out, is kind of a hard sell, particularly when one of the most common enemies in the game is tedious and flowbreaking. The centaur really should have been an uncommon enemy with a high threat level to justify his gimmick, forcing me to dig through my inventory for flechettes all the time isn't fun.

Like I see a lot of the appeal in Hexen, but it's kind of a dry turkey to me, so to say, it needed a bit more to its gameplay and its level design. One of the key things you need for developing as a mapper is to analyze other levels. Think of all these different levels that you like, and then break down what you like about them, and learn how you can do those things yourself. Olga fag here. I had a terrible month so I'm not gonna finish my map either. What's fucked is I made a shit ton of maps in May and then in June I can't summon the energy cause of all the stress to finish one map. I did at least learn a bunch with all the restrictions for this wad.

I wanted to do a total conversion Kuroinu shooter with Olga as a squadmate/playable character from day one so this is kind of fine. It's not like their isn't enough monsters, demons, slavers, bugs, parasites, mercenaries, knights, corrupt nobles, merchants, bankers, pedophiles, brainwashed women, dark elves, dark mages, necromancers, liches etc to fill out a enemy roster with potential for lots of boss fights and encounter design. Update for the Fore/vr/ Alone Visco map, possibly the last revision. I don't intend to do much more with it besides bugfixes at this point. Anything more would only come after very specific complaints about the map flow or balance. I'm not very pleased with it and somewhat regret entering at all, but the second deadline's coming, other stuff has come up, and I'm getting tired of tweaking it.

I added a new sector art area just for art's sake, but couldn't really think of anything to do with it. The new sector art is now beside a new starting area which takes the player straight to the formerly optional and secret Amataya Castle area. Between a playtester struggling on the first sector art area without knowing of it, seeing a post ranking my map as one of the hardest of the submissions, other wads having more than just sector art, and it just being confusing, I decided to just forget the whole split. Even if it messes with the balance of the arena, I'd rather it be trivialized than overly difficult.

If you play on lower difficulties, please let me know if something seems missing or something that seems to abnormally difficult shows up. I've already corrected numerous erroneously flagged things throughout making this, so there could still be ammo and health unintentionally missing from them, or harder monsters appearing when they're not intended to.

I just wanted to all of you, that I love Quake 2. News of remaster made me start playing this again (not done this for almost 20 years). And I have to say, that this is actually enjoyable game. Much better than I remember. Weapons themselves feel very good. Even better than in first one. Super shotgun, minigun and railgun are just too satisfying. And stroggos are actually fun to fight in higher difficulties.

Honestly, the archvile is not really meant to be a challenge, it's purely to keep the player occupied in that switch room to distract from being locked in while the lengthy script is executing. The script is janky and speeding it up makes it unstable, but keeping the player locked in there doing nothing would be annoying. If anything, it staying in there not only makes it easier, but also obstructs the player from getting to the switch a bit longer.

starting in the castle is a pretty good call, I probably would've gotten lunchlunch flashbacks if the map just dropped me in that sector art arena with all the weapons first thing
I ran right out of ammo chaingunning mancs in that open area full of them, someone who didn't explore the maze would probably run out faster. At that point I was worried the rocket launcher I found all those boxes for was a secret but it didn't take long to find the dark square room in the middle, and didn't have any ammo problems with liberal rocket and cell usage after. The shortcuts are nice, multiple SSG pickups in a big map is nice, the castle's design is tight so it would be a shame if it were cordoned off to a secret.
I was a little disappointed the secret area had no enemies but it was a good primer on how the real arena would be laid out and how to get out of the water using the yellow lifts
didn't die at all on HMP, plasma gunned the shotgunners and revs near the entrance and the arena lost its teeth
as for UV, spectres in the maze actually upped the difficulty because I needed to have a gun out and not chainsaw everything. There might have been more revenants in the arena but plasma gun and not playing blind still won out. My death on UV was forgetting about the crate SSG revenant

I'm guessing comments on the map's difficulty were from before the new starting area, if those weapons strewn about the arena were the only ones of their kind, and that starting megasphere was the only one instead of carrying over hp/armor from the level it would be pretty brutal

Comments on the difficulty were almost certainly about the old start, which is something I only did because I was afraid the castle wasn't obviously relevant enough without it. The new area at least gives some immediate relevance to the megawad.
I'm glad you noticed the new one functioning as a subtle tutorial for the arena, since that was very much intentional. No enemies were added because I felt it was too open and strange to really function for an encounter, and I felt it was long enough as is without another poorly put together arena fight, not to mention potential disruption of the resource balance.

That's honestly a very good idea, but the problem is that cells are actually introduced in the water room with the plasma rifle. The plasma rifle is supposed to be the reward for doing the yellow key's half of the room, so removing it or being very stingy with the ammo isn't really an option to me.
Removing the BFG entirely from the castle would require me to figure out something else to put as the last pillar's item. I'm also not sure that would be the best kind of room setup to deal with the Mastermind without being able to very quickly deal with it. Changing the room around is a bit more work than I intended to do it at this point, and would be deviating more from the original level it's based on, which I've generally tried to avoid unless I felt it was very necessary.

From the start, the sector art arena began with a line of a shotgun, SSG, chaingun, ammo for both, and a Megasphere. It's actually still there, although I considered removing them in light of it now being impossible to pistol start regardless. In the end I decided it was best to leave it since what little playtesting of the area was done assumed its presence, and it's probably best not to take the player's ammo reserves for granted in such an encounter.

Almost none, especially that merit updates to UDB. You can see the notes whenever it auto-updates. They're usually: small fixes, crash prevention, improved ease of use, or features for the UDMF and Eternity standards. MBF21 itself has only been updated 4 times according to the official specs with pretty small stuff. You could conceivably append a bunch of new stuff so long as it didn't desync any of the existing archive demos that rely on the format but the devs seem uninterested in doing so. Personally, I think mbf21 is good enough given it's stated goals of addressing obvious shortcomings of other dehacked versions. Decorate and Z-script have long existed if you really want to reinvent the game.
I frivolously rationalized mbf21 might be updated more before when considering the weird behavior dsda-doom exhibits when trying to play complevel21 demos in older engine versions, but increasingly that seems not to be the case. The fact older dsda-doom versions refuses to play new demos sometimes seems to be completely pointless.
