Alright guys, I have two games that'd I'd really appreciate if you could tell me the names of. The first one was along the lines of final fantasy one. Hell, it might even be a FF game. Anyway, I played it on the snes or NES when a friend lent me his copy. Being young at the time, I found the game frustrating. I remember getting stuck at what I think might be a huge red or white skeleton or a huge red dragon. When you died it said your party had fainted. That's as far as I got ans everything else I remember is very blurry and is probably from another game. The second I'm not sure if it even exists and I dreamt it up. The only thing I can remeber is that you're in a town hall type building with some other people at night and sleep there (I'm. pretty sure you were there because it was safer than being in your house or so me shit). Anyway, you wake up and the whole building is burning you get out and that's it. I don't expect an answer for the second one but give it a shot. Thanks /vr/. I'm on a phone to so ignore spelling mistakes. Pic unrelated.

I don't remember the system, maybe C64, VIC20, PC...maybe Amiga. Played it early 90s (I think this was around 1992).

From memory, it looked a bit like a clone or bootleg of a Mario game. It took place either in space or in caverns. The graphics were similar in tone to the Moon level (outside the ship) in Ducktales for NES, i.e. grey and green. The main character looked suspiciously like Mario. I recall it had very little or no combat (sparse obstacles / ennemies).

That's about the only details I remember, but I remember having a blast with it for an entire evening + night. We were staying with my parents at a distant relative's house, it was just about the only game they had, and I was the only youngster there.

I never found anything about it, it haunts me to this day.

>> No.276803

So, I've tried identifying this game several times before /vr/ was present, but with no luck. First of all, I'm not even 100% sure if it is a 'retro' game, because it might aswell be released in 2000's, so forgive me if this is the case. Alright, the game is a side-scrolling beat 'em up. It has kinda of sprite-ish graphics, it had a demo version (which I played). What I remember is that it had 2 or 3 (maybe more in full version) playable characters and they all had like different storylines or something. One of the characters was like a humanoid-like demon thing with grey or blue skin (can't recall) and had a quite short but a wide sword. Another thing I remember was that one of the levels resembled a castle wall or a stone road or even a stone bridge, don't know.
Yeah, the description is very vague, but that's honestly all I remember. Oh, and also, it's a PC game.
Thanks in advance to anyone who bothers, I really appreciate it.

OK trying again 2 games here:

First is a spaceship shooter seen from the back of the ship, it was shareware and i think it was on a cd. The main thin is that the stage was a seemingly realistic video (3D render) with "hotspots" that you can shoot (dont know if enemies were par of the video or sprites, but the boses were part of the video). One boss spined vertically and you had to shot in the openings on some of its sides. You started with a simple orange ball shot and upgraded up to 3 straight shots.

Second is a text adventure i bought for 5 bucks at a computer store in mcallen or laredo, i dont remember well but i think it was called templo of doom or something like that. The main feature is that some rooms had an ascii diagram of the thing in them, the one i remember is one with a torch holder across the room represented with a "¥" wich you had to "lasso" with a rope to swing indiana jones style. Another puzzle was a room with a valuable object and a hole in the wall, if you took it poison gas came out of the hole. Solved by puttin wax on the hole. The name was somethign like "Temple of Doom" but dont reamember crearly.

Also Im an artist and will reward any of the 2 with a scketch of whatever you like. Pic is my work.

It was an old PS1 game. It was a racing game that looks like some stoner dumped the entire contents of his mind onto a disc to be sold to unsuspecting children. Everything was black and white with splotches of florescence, if I remember correctly.

The control scheme was total ass. The characters you could choose from looked like badly ripped off Disney characters.

>PC
>probably somewhere in between 95-99
>puzzle-strategy turn based hybrid
>isometric view
You play as green orbs/spheres. The game consists of tile based levels, where you should either defeat spheres of other colors or ants(?)/some kind of insectoids. Your spheres can either:

-create another sphere near the previous one (1 tile in all directions, if possible)
-jump to 2/3(?) spheres across

If your colored sphere will come close enough (1 tile) across enemy ones, it will turn them to yours. Therefore, the one who owns most of the map and/or spheres in the end wins. In order to win you must either completely defeat and turn his units to your color, or just swarm the map with orbs, until no turns are possible.

I played this in 1991 or 1992 on Atari or Amiga. The view is Isometric, you are some ball or a blob, you go around some labyrinths shooting at enemies, and entering sparkling teleports.

Background is always black, only the colour and textures of the tiles you move on change. From what I remember, these tiles are narrow, you don't have a lot of space to move around (something like Kula World, only isometric 2D).

Sounds like either Seiken Densetsu 3 or one of the Romancing SaGa games. If it was an action RPG the former, if a menu-based JRPG the latter. They were only released in Japan, so if you played one of them in English you were playing a hacked ROM.

Had to be a game like house of the dead except it definitely wasn't. I watched someone play the game but basically it used light guns and you shot at ghosts/zombies/etc. I remember when particular spot where there was some kind of apparitions that would hide in the ceiling or the floor and throw what was like a ninja star at you, which you had to shoot.

It was just really odd to say the least, and it feels like they really tried to copy or were at least influenced by House of the Dead but I know for a fact it wasn't that because it didn't have any voice acting to speak of.

Also another game, you used a sword to block attacks and slash enemies. You actually had a plastic/foam sword that you placed somewhere in between these poles which I believe picked up the input of the foam sword. It was actually really fun and wasn't very wonky at all. I think you found undead samurai/knights or perhaps they were just regular attackers who attacked more slowly.

Some old 90's DOS FPS game. You started out in some compound with a few buildings. It was either foggy or the draw distance was just bad. I seem to remember that enemies didn't show up right away, and I don't think you had a weapon at the start either, too. The first weapon you got shot some kind of goo that encased enemies. Ok, I got one.

Some old computer game, I don't remember the platform, could have been an old DOS PC or Apple II or something that used 5.25 floppy disks, although the game could have been on multiple platforms. I believe it was a WWII plane game where you viewed your plane from a side-scrolling perspective. I don't remember if there were other enemy planes, but I do think you had to attack/bomb targets on the ground. If I remember right, the level looped if you kept going in one direction for too long.

I played this game as a very little kid, in school so 1993-1995. I don't remember when, but I'd lean more toward 1993. My elementary school only had Apple computers, so it had to be playable on Macs.

I *believe* it was an adventure game, but it might have been an extremely primitive FPS. I only played a little bit of it, but it involved going down medieval stone hallways, with torches on the walls, and at the end of the hallway was a heavy wooden door. I only played for a few minutes, so that's all I saw.

It was pseudo-3D, that kind of horrible primitive 3D you saw in Castle Wolfenstein, and on the bottom of the screen was a bar that contained information. Maybe it contained items and your health, if it was that kind of game, but I honestly don't remember.

This was in a school computer, so it must have been rated K-A.

So there is this game I can hardly remember. My dad rented it for me for the SNES and all I remember is that the layout sort of reminded me of Flashback, and for all I know it was the SNES version of Flashback. However, I distinctly remember that at the very start of the game I started by a small pond or something in a jungle area. I could go one screen to the left which took me to a cave type place which was basically a dead end. If I took the path right there was seemingly no where else to go. I'm sure there was something my child brain couldn't figure out to try, but I remember feeling like I got ripped off because there was nowhere to go.

I remember playing an old computer game that was similar to Missile Command in concept. You were hunkered down in a bunker with an anti-aircraft gun and you had to shoot paratroopers before they landed on the ground. If enough landed on the ground when the round ended (had to be 2 or 3 usually), they would gang up on you and slap your shit. As far as I know there was an old version on DOS, and a newer version with more detail and colors, and wacky shit like if only one or two paratroopers made it, they would get abducted by aliens, and sometimes you would have a pizza delivered to your bunker after a round. The name is practically on the tip of my tongue but this thread reminded me of it and now I'm going crazy.

Found something that kinda matches your description on another site but not sure if it's what you were looking for. Couldn't verify it because of its generic name (closes I could find is a different game called Intergalactic Rocket Factory). Game is for Apple II.

Rocket Factory - In this game you designed rockets with different parts and then launched them to see how they performed. I remember one mode of play had either a plane go by trailing a banner behind or there was a line of clouds, and then you had to try to design a rocket that would reach apogee at the level of the banner or clouds. I've come up totally empty handed with this one, any leads would be great.

Alright. I've been posting my memories of this one on /v/ since 2007, still no one has gotten it.

It's a PC game. It was released before 98-99.

I remember playing it at a friends house. We played this unknown game and DOOM, if that helps.

It had an overworld/level selector similar to the map in Dragon Warrior III. Forests and castles kind of thing.

The actual gameplay I remember it to be sort of like a platformer, but not sidescrolling. Each level was one big block, it's possible you had to travel vertically, though.

What stands out the most in my memory, is a dynamite/TNT sprite. This was crucial in beating each level. Maybe you had to find the TNT and use it at a certain location, I can't remember.

I'd be very grateful if anyone could help me figure this one out. It's been haunting me for many, many years.

It was an adventure game for PC that played sort of like Eye of the Beholder. As in, first-person, static perspective, grid-based movement, puzzle solving and distributing inventory between party members that all behaved as one group.

The story opened on board a space station, where some computer got all SHODANy, named itself "the Overlord", and decided to destroy humanity by sending down genetically engineered aliens. The hallways you started in were very, very green. I think "Shadow" might have been in the title, though I'm not sure.

Side-scrolling shooting game for the PC, dunno if it was DOS or Windows because I remember a demo of it coming on a disc that had a bunch of game demos. All of the levels were in space, and the demo took place inside Earth's solar system. I think the story was that the Earth was at war with some alien race, so the gameplay had you fight your way all the way to the alien home planet. It wasn't one of the well-known series like Gradius.

There's that one game from my childhood.
You were a kid in a land full of characters from various fairy tales. It was basically an adventure game for five years old kids, the goal was to find items scattered around the game world and to bring them back to whoever they belonged, and every time you brought one back you'd get a short musical number.
It wasn't a very good game, but I loved it as a kid.

OK, how about this one...

I remember playing this one Game Boy game at a friend's house... it's no later than 1992 or 1993 or so, maybe 1994. It has this sort of knight-y theme, with the character about that side on the screen, with the platforms having that sort of 45 degree angle, and at the end of the level you reach a castle like so.

This is all I can remember visually, but I also remember the level music (at least I think I do)... but that won't help me. :(

I played a game on PC (must have been Windows 98 era?) that game on a disc with lots of games in one. Not sure if it was a demo disc. I don't think it was.

Either way, the game played a but like metal slug, but slower and with some platforming. I remember it being quite hard too (though I was young, so maybe it was that). I think something like the third level had some toxic barrels in it or something and I seem to remember the game being called "Z", but no search has ever found anything related so I could be completely wrong.

If you guys can tell me this, it'll cure an itch I've had for years. Back in the late 90's (between 95-99) a friend of mine gave me a demo disc with a bunch of PC games. One of them was a bird's eye view post-apocalyptic shooter. It wasn't the Fallout series but every single search I've done has only yielded Fallout.

>It looked like an isometric Duke Nukem and featured some simple platforming.

>One of the weapons was a laser rifle that could blow enemies up.

>The demo featured a ruined city with a theater that was reminiscent of Duke and a subway to get between levels.

>There was some comic book associated with the release of the game but it wasn't a famous franchise, I doubt it did well.

That's about what I can remember of it and like I said, searches always come back with hits on the Fallout series.

Point and click game from the Aladdin/Pink Panther games era, similar cartoony graphics to those. Medieval setting, I think you played as the son of the king or something and discovered some kind of conspiracy involving a ritual or some dark knights or some shit. It had cartoon video sequences interspersed with the levels.
Each screen usually had a few hidden gags or pointless things to click on, and there was also a separate level thing where you could drag and drop characters and items from the game and they would interact.

Oh and the main kid had really low ears. Like they were practically in line with his fucking mouth, it looked weird.

Please help me out with an old game I am looking for since 2007 (Months after I have thrown away the demo disk form a magazine of it because i've never used them)

>Turn based game (most likely) - it had hexagon fields like in Battle Isle and similar turn-based mechanics. But it played differently.
>If you are familiar with Battle Isle titles (Grass, street titles, etc.), these things were included inside this games mechanics aswell.
>You had to battle other Kingdoms, it was a mix between Battle Isle and Lords of the Realm 1/2.
>This game played within the Medieval times
>The game was greenish and grayish (Castles were gray) and it was released in mid-late 1995 or maybe 1996 so it was kinda around during the times were games like Baldies or (not really strictly from that time) ES2 were popular stuff.
>It was just this strategy game, no first person stuff included.
>Catapults were kinda significant in that game.
>Standard Playercolour was red.
>I remember that this game was called "Crusaders" or something like that but I haven't found anything about it.

Things I don't quite remember and are probably uncertain:
>There had this seasonal transition in effect, every turn was like a season or so.
>I also remember that the pictures of the figures were real people costumeplaying as Knights and Soldiers, Kinda like in Castles 2.

I have one, it's a PSX game, I think from one of the old OPSM demos (so either a demo or a Net Yaroze homebrew). You play in a military walker, and have control of a base. You have an enemy who owns an opposing base, also in a walker. There are neutral turrets across the map for you to control (or your enemy). I -think- the goal was to conquer the enemy base. It wasn't an RTS of any sort; it was literally just you and the enemy walker on the map with the neutral turrets, and the base was literally just a marked piece of ground.

>> No.332292

I believe you're talking about Super Solvers' "Treasure MathStorm!"? It was a hell of a lot of fun.

Maybe someone can help me. This was roughly DOS-era, and all I remember is the intro cutscene, though I think the gameplay might've been a vertically scrolling shmup. The intro was somewhat anime-styled, and consisted of a tough (blonde?) woman, possibly enrolled in some kind of Gundam-esque military, watching her home city be completely annihilated in a dome-shaped explosion. She witnesses this from a distant cliffside, tightly closes her eyes in a grimace of hatred and sadness, and then tearfully swears revenge, which starts the game. PRETTY sure that was what happened.

I think the last time I saw this cutscene I was five, so it was about fifteen years ago...any help would be awesome.

Anyways you explored around the ship, and you could find the place where the suits and weapons were, but you couldn't go out after you equipped them, so you had to put it back and talk to some people to find the way to advance the plot, and then you could go suit up for real this time... and I seem to recall one scene where the pure white walls of the ship were stained red in a crewmates blood. Probably not the best description, but keep in mind this is like 15 years ago.

I've lost one of those discs over the years, and with it several games which I've partly forgotten the names of.
One in particular is a game that caught my attention, it was some sort of small episodic RPG/Adventure game about a cat named Kiki, where there was a general color shade to everything, like the world was pink, everything was in a multi window setup - Actual game world stuff to the left, windows with stats and inventory on the right -like how a bunch of non-DOS games handled it at the time, 2D, and for some reason I can't help but think the game was translated from another language, the first episode the shareware featured was extremely short, could be finished in 15 minutes or less and I believe it ends or maybe begins with an animation of kiki in an hot air balloon.

I was about 5 or 6 at the time and so I imagine it was a DOS game. It was a platformer where you played as an architect/explorer and you had to find keys for doors. There may well have been a pickaxe for destroying rocks and some sort of gem collection.

Some old adventure (I think) game for the PC where you play as some surfer with green hair who wakes up on a spooky island and there are skulls in the sand that you have to do something with.

I think it had the word "Doom" in the title. So like, Lagoon of Doom, but that doesn't give me any results.

I'm afraid I may be the only one who played this game.

Aside from the green hair, it might of been entomorph, which was about crashing onto some island that has a curse that turns people into giant crazed bugs and over the course of the game you are totally mantising it up.

Hey so the game my friend was looking for was actually developed by Broderbund and she remembered this after she saw that Manhole game was partly published by Broderbund. The game was James Explores Math. Seems to be a pretty hard game to find too. Thanks though anon.

Yeah, that's not it, but thanks anyway.

Ok /vr/, i hope you can help me.

The game I'm talking about was a GB game (I'm pretty sure about it, but maybe is a GBC game :/)

Anyway, it was a game based on the Tweety character and you played as Sylvester and the only moment I remeber about the game was that in a certain moment you need to jump over a wall jumping on a pillow. Oh, and it had an isometrical view

(Sorry for bad english, not a native english speaker)

Ok, I need some help since even looking through listings of turbografx stuff I can't pick it out.

There was some japanese only PCengine game where you play a caveman who wanders into something like a wild western town, and you just mash people with your club and rape women, I totally forgot the name though.

Neither of those. Similar though. I remember it having more colour and more detailed backgrounds so it may well have been a bit younger than those.

I have vague memories of a humorous sci-fi point-and-click adventure game that wasn't a Space Quest game. The main thing I remember is that you started out in a crashed space ship under water. And that one of the jokes was about not touching the hamster in the engine room because it was providing vital power.

The sphere game people were trying to remember is called "Colony". I came across this post trying to find the name of the game with green orbs vs scorpions and you try and take over the map on a tile based movement map. Woo-hoo can't believe the name randomly popped into my head
