Do people really buy those at a such price?

That's what I have a hard time to understand with those prices. Whether it's e-bay or in shops, everything is at awful prices nowadays, but nobody buys them for the longest time for the most part... and of course when somebody gets a game he wants to sell he'll jsut base himself on the other prices she sees and try to sell it for as much. Ridiculous.

Or am I wrong and people actually pay that much for those?

So i asked if I could have the boxes and pointed at them. It was a good craigslist deal and I should have paid 80$ for it all the first time I went instead of second guessing myself and coming back again and not being clear that I wanted that "useless" cardboard that the games originally came boxed in.

Hell, half the games on the market today as new are already out of print because they're already manufactured. As far as I know most games never have a second production run. Out of print? My hypothetical 1990 sedan is out of print; gimme $50,000 for it.

ehh. simple enough. Though the wide plug on those things can make it a little trickier.

That sucks, but maybe you shouldn't have said anything at all once you saw the game.

It's possible the first seller gave it to his brother or something to sell for much more at the other stall once you showed such big interest in it.

I've been in similar situations before. I just keep completely quiet and hurry my way back.

Thats nothing, i saw a copy of Tronn Bonne's game for the dreamcast, the man wanted 600 for it.

And 300 for earthbound.

Dont think he was really trying to sell them.

>Dont think he was really trying to sell them.
People here will hate me for this (and I don't care about that), but this is what I do. Not "you'd be crazy to pay this" pricing, but I sometimes attach a value to games and other items that I would actually not mind keeping, then make them available for purchase at that price even it's not competitive.

Like this:
>It would cost me $50 including tax and shipping to buy a new replacement/upgrade of something I have that sells for $30 used, so I'll just price it at $50 in case somebody out there really wants it.

If it doesn't sell, I really don't care. I suspect there are a lot of us out there, and people here just think we're totally out of touch.

There was a reseller at a flea market a few weeks ago who was asking $40 for NES/SNES games. When i asked why they were so expensive he said it was because they are so rare and that's what they sell for online since people want to relive their childhood memories.

I pulled out my phone, downloaded a couple of roms and started playing SMW right in front of him then said, well that saved me $40.

At least my LGS sells Pokemon games with fresh batteries. Even then, the most you'll pay them is $40 for a copy of Emerald.

Yes, probably. Probably not the GBA games, though.

>>1001674

The batteries for GSC died faster than the ones for RBY. Probably because the former had a clock running on top of keeping the save, whereas the latter just had a save. My Gold version died in like, 2007 or something but my Red version died pretty recently, like in 2011.

I have shit selection for retro games in the Ohio Valley, nothing but sports games and Mario Paint, but hot damn did I get lucky being able to find good N64 controllers for $15. Whether that's overpriced or not I couldn't say, but I don't really care because my controller sticks for my old controllers were almost non-functional and finding it was a godsend. I should probably go back and buy a second one.
