I can deal with the fact that Nintendo didn't want to publish this game because of its mature, controversial content but not allowing to Nintendo Power to review it? Seriously Nintendo? It's a surprise that one year later they publish Eternal Darkness for Gamecube which was also a mature game.

I'm against censorship of any kind, but I kinda understand.

Companies like Sega, Sony, etc have made a bit of money by being a Teen target or pushing things a little more edgy.

Its out of Nintendo's area, granted they have nice games in MA history, but lets face it a lot of Mom's have bought Nintendo.

In the Gamegrumps episode with Grant Kirkhope he says that.

Twelve Tails was started before Project Dream, and it was doing really well, the PD team went to have a look at it and crapped themselves. They went back and pulled PD apart and it became Banjo and Kazooie. Meanwhile Twelve Tails was having some problems becase they were dicking around, and a new guy (Chris someone) was brought in to save it. He's the one who changed the direction

Is that why Conker 64 had to become what it did? Because Banjo-Kazooie sort of stole the whole cutsey atmosphere and look out from under Twelve Tales? Part of the reason would be because Nintendo never got proper third party support. If anything, all they ever got were ports and spinoffs of popular games, and most failed to meet sales expectations. Like Metal Gear. Since the NES days, Nintendo only has 5 Metal Gear games; 3 ports and 2 spinoffs. This is a flawed gauge to use to claim "there isn't an audience for Metal Gear games with Nintendo users", because people have already played those games before, and in some of their cases, they were half-assed ports.

So it's a lose lose situation for Nintendo.
