If you're on a budget, PowKiddy Q20, Q90, and V90. V90 was actually my introduction to TurboGrafx-CD and a good chunk of the SEGA CD library (I previously only played Sonic CD and only heard of Popful Mail, the Lunar games, and the shmups). Otherwise any device with a good cfw can handle them, these are all very low end systems maybe barring a small handful of PS1 games. Even the off brand handhelds can technically run them, they just aren't supported by the stock firmware/os

Depends on the size of your hand I think. It is fine to me, I can press both trigger buttons with the tip and the knuckle of my index finger, but I might be biased since I use to play monhun with the claw grip.
The worse part is the d-pad since I had to put some electric tape on the board to stop it from triggering diagonals when pressing left or right. I don't recommend it if you want to play games that require motion inputs.

A lot of Chinese companies unironically rely on their customers being too timid or forgetful when it comes to returns, and if the customer does make a request but comes off as polite and passive the Chinese company will just make them jump through hoops until they get exhausted and give up.

But if you put your foot down and are stern with them right off the bat, no negotiations, direct with what you want and that you need it immediately, they will instantly 180 and cower, doing anything they can to appease you. I don't know whether it's because they just have a certain threshold tolerance, or if they're so genuinely used to just dumping shit onto customers who don't complain that when one does it's startling.

I said no, got Paypal involved, they started to beg forgiveness prease, I said no, got a full refund and got to keep the item they sent me.

And now the Chinese have bought Paypal and now regardless of whether you're a buyer or a seller on eBay, Paypal defaults to the Chinese party of the transaction every time and tells the Westerners to get fucked. I don't use Paypal anymore specifically because of that shit they do now.

If you are looking to play those kinds of games IMO you should spend a bit more and get something with more ergonomic controls, I got the 35xx as a GBA machine for 10-15 min bursts and its good for that but things like metroid and the faster SNES games don't handle all that well on it and it is quite unconformable for long play if you're playing anything that requires the shoulder buttons or using all four face buttons regularly

well, I'm a bit annoyed about the weight. I'm not gonna be carrying it much, but I just want to be able to play it comfortably while lying on my back. that said, I can hardly gauge what 285g feels vs 235g though. My phone weighs 210g, fine to hold with 2 hands while lying down, but going over that feels like it could start getting uncomfortable.
and I'm not a huge fan of the color. it's kind of neat, but I'm worried a bright hue like that will be distracting. but the only reason I say this is because I've owned a white and black DS lite back in the day, black felt far less distracting and more immersive. on the other hand, black is fucking boring, so there's that.
I'm still worried about plastic a little bit though. I have a bit sensitive skin & eyes. Weird thing is that my hands seem to be sensitive to bad plastic. I used to have a SteelSeries BT controller that just felt like shit in my hands, to the point I had to get rid of it. I _think_ I had it with DS lite which I realized way later, though I'm not quite sure if it was the device or the screen. I owned an old phone that was kind of in the middle, my new phone doesn't give me issues though, though it's cheap. so I'm like 70-80% sure a plastic RP3+ will be fine, but there's a small chance it will feel like crap.

I just hope there is no buzzing noise from the speaker when the sound is off or a loud pop when it powers on.

Dreamcast plays fucking awesome on RP3+. Saturn is really good as well, maybe 99% there, but there are a small handful of games that either won't run fullspeed in Yabasanshiro standalone, or straight up won't boot in Yabasanshiro standalone. The later WILL boot in Mednafen within Retroarch (at least from what I've tried), but the t618 doesn't have quite enough juice to brute force them there. And yes there's a surprising amount of PS2 games that will run fullspeed, but obviously not all or even most.

Also just FYI, some PS1 games still have slowdown here and there on rk3326 devices, and I'm pretty sure the Mini's chip is even weaker than that. So while I don't doubt PS1 is fine, there's likely room for improvement you may not be aware of even aside from running games in higher res or using demanding settings like geometry correction.

I don't think I like playing modern consoles portably. Stuff like GameCube and PS2 feel off to play - I think it's a combination of the text on screen being pretty small when shrunk down to a small portable screen, and that some consoles like the GameCube have very unique controllers that result in games feeling jarring to play without those original controllers. I think I'm going to stick with emulating portable stuff portably, as well as pre 2000s consoles.

The D-pad and bottons are perfect but the fucking placement of the shoulder bottons it's fucking retarded, the only way to use them properly it's by playing with your arms on a desktop of something like that

Saturn is a pain to emulate. 150$ for the RP3+ is your best, cheapest bet, the firmware for the console got an update recently and nearly every saturn game runs with no noticable slowdown for me

You have cheaper options but they will not run the games at full speed

I just got my GB-40 last night, buttons feel okay, screen is better than Game Box Plus (the pastel colored ones). Game selection is mostly the same but it does have Ninja Gaiden 3 and Burai Fighter on it which I've never played before. >>9985437 should be arriving tomorrow I think, then I will probably order another keychain handheld like this.

I really wanna try the GB-60 (non-Famiclone version) and put some GBA games on it

It's not insignificant, you're holding a thing up with both hands for extended periods, even if you're supporting your elbows on something.

I can feel the difference between an RG351V (200g) and an RG351M (260g). The ergonomics of the device matter too, the RG351M was just too square and didn't support my hands well, unlike the RG353P.

I fucked up a little, I just put a small weight on the back of my phone without realizing that holding it with my fingers put more strain on my arms.
After that I attached the weight to my phone with a rubber band. This was way easier to hold. But when I removed the weight, the device felt much lighter, holding it for extended periods of time didn't feel uncomfortable.
The 50g difference may not sound like much, and it won't break your arms, but it is just very, very annoying. I honestly miss the times of GBA when devices could weigh under 200g or even under 150g.

Anbernic needs to stop for a few minutes and think about what they want and how to build good devices, not to pump shit every other minute like what they’re currently doing.
Focus your energy and resources, you chink idiots. It works for Powkiddy because those devices are made on the cheap and quickly. Also, stop with the metal nonsense, we’re reaching a point where devices are powerful enough and with hot chips that will turn your hands into an oven with a metal body.
Just design a good plastic shell, make the molds for it and it’s done, economy of scale and the mold quickly gets paid, and the devices get much cheaper.

For me they are fun to collect, I really like the vertical form factor for retro games, but I've also admittedly never spent that much on one of these handhelds. Mine range from the $20-$40 mark with the most "expensive"/powerful one I've bought being the V90. Pretty much I see them more as fun trinkets than serious devices to game on.

Now about the Vita part, while I don't have a high end Anbernic or other handheld, I do have a Chromebook that can handle everything up to Saturn and some GameCube. What I can say is on these handhelds everything works out of the box, there's not a whole lot you need to do. Android and Chromebook are similar, just download your emulators from the Play Store and you're ready to go.

With Vita on the other hand you have to jailbreak it or install cfw first, which takes more time and effort. There's also the prospect of things like Saturn and GameCube emulation which handhelds like the Retroid Pocket 2+ or Ayn Odin can handle but probably isn't great on something like Vita. As these become more powerful we'll eventually see stuff like Wii and 3DS emulation as well.

Finally there's nothing wrong with owning more than one handheld, I've seen people who have PSP, 3DS, Vita, and like a dozen of these emulator handhelds. There's no need to stick to only one when there are so many. Anyway I hope you enjoy your Vita anon and be sure to post pics

Can't help you with which device does Saturn but seriously doubt it'll be pocketable, GBA and PSX are the higher end of pocketability so far. Just trying to tell you what others won't. For example, my RG353V suffers a lot from this shit, with claims that it "runs" Saturn, N64, Dreamcast and PSP, when it just does a few lightweight games, half of them with stutters, making it pointless. Here's a thought. Vita has a quad core Cortex A9 CPU. Basically a midrange mobile chip from ~2011. Today that's the kind of garbage CPU that you won't even find in the cheapest phones.
Here's how a similar quad core Cortex A9 chip, RK3188, compares to average modern "bootleg crapware handheld" CPU, Tiger T618, that you will find in Retroid Pocket 3+. That's still way worse than the chip you will find in a much cheaper RG353PS that costs $87.99.
So basically your Vita is worse than a sub $100 chinkheld. It's almost as if 12 years of time difference means newer chips are way more powerful. Wow.
Oh and btw. Your crappy Vita OLED from 2011 is probably burned out by now. But have fun using one

I guess so, but there are still dumbphones being released to this day, so there's that. But that's all sub $100 garbage, anything over that will be several times more powerful than Vita. And btw—Snapdragon 210 has about same power as the Vita CPU. Not surprising since it's a bottom of the barrel chip from 2014.
>iPhone 11
that's IPS, not sure about the rest either. OLED burn in can vary, but 10 years of use will have an effect on most of them. and old OLEDs are generally way worse than modern ones.

Retard who bought a Win600 despite owning a Deck here, finally got it and holy FUCK it is way smaller than I was expecting which is awesome. It really is a fantastic size for a handheld PC. D-pad feel and location is excellent, ergonomics are good ignoring the stick locations. Shoulder buttons are surprisingly the best digital shoulder buttons I've ever used on a handheld. They're super soft and effortless to press. Surprisingly nice looking screen, and at least for me I prefer the 6" over 7". The speakers as expected aren't as good as the crazy ones in the Deck, and they aren't front firing either which is gay, but in general I still think they're very good speakers and don't leave me wanting for much (haven't tested anything super bass-heavy tho).

If there's an Achilles heel for my use-case, it's probably the weight. It's something like 180g lighter than the Deck, which on paper is fantastic. The problem is weirdly enough the weight distribution in part due to ergonomic differences seems to be a lot better in the Deck. I'm really glad to have my autistic curiosity finally satiated regarding this device, but I'm probably gonna flip it soon because of this.

sorry but I don't understand what you said. did you mean that 210 can play GBA fine? in that case, why the fuck wouldn't it, anyway. GBA ran on an ARM processor too, so the emulation should be relatively easy. I think it could handle DS just fine too—though maybe not double res and stuff like that.
>Those should still be stronger than vita or new3ds.
Guess the rabbit whole is quite deep, maybe you could find literal chink shit at $50 that has same specs as Vita. But 3DS is definitely laughably weak, the thing has a dual core CPU at 268mhz. We're talking level of power somewhere around iPhone 1. doesn't stop retards from thinking it "just werks" as emulation machine.

>Installed a USB-C mod. The hole I made for it looks pretty shitty but it fits the port perfectly. Not tight and not loose. It was the much much harder part of the mod to install it but it will get me to play it a lot more than using batteries.
Looks rough, yeah but it's yours and it works so I won't be one of those morons that talks shit about it. Are the buttons a really dark gray, or black? They seems to look different between the pictures you posted, has me curious.

I'm not caught up on the meta of the chinese handhelds. Last thing I remember was the Miyoo Mini being peak.

Has anything better showed up?

The clear shell does not lend to having a shell mod done to it well compared to solic ones which will hide it a bit more. Even if its on a stand or something you wont really see it much anyway so as long as it works. They are the oem buttons so dark grey. The lighting is just making it look different. I got a set of dark smoke clear buttons I might swap to since I need to open it again anyway.

I would highly recommend that you use any OEM membranes that you own, if you do a button swap. The modern membranes feel really off/

Yeah I had gotten some new ones and they felt not great so I had swapped back to the oem ones, then back to the replacement ones to be sure it wasnt just me putting them in wrong and yeah I'll swap back to them too.

For $100 and almost every game ever made (if it's not an outright scam or malware) idk it sounds too good to be true but I have slow internet so downloading roms is a bit of an issue.

You can get everything from all of the nintendo consoles up to n64 and gba for like 30gb of space. The numbers are super inflated by old games when it says "122,000+ games". I'm sure its got a lot on there (Not gonna be 5TB like the video thumbnail claims for $100) but how bad is your internet that you cant download some games you want to play, then let the rest of the rom sets download for you slowly?

In my experience, it's all cartridge based games that there are nointro sets for up through the GBA.

What? No? Are you illiterate? Something normally costs $55 USD and it comes to only $79 CAD after shipping and taxes? That's not "getting fucked".
