Anyone remember Hover! ?

>> No.9948427

I hardly know ‘er!

>> No.9949006

There was a web remake of Hover that came out nearly a decade ago as some sort of promotion for IE 11, but of course Microsoft killed it and removed all traces of it from the Internet. I think it was also released as a Windows 8 app but that's gone as well. I wish I could find it.

Fucking good taste, OP. I just rediscovered the name of this game last year or earlier this year. My dad even thought this game looked cool, and he would always play it in his down time at his work computer.

Game was impossible at Level 3. The CPU would speed run to flags.

What kind of Wolf3D clone is that? Tell me about it.

I remember hover bovver

Now I fucking do.

I remember some weird futuristic racing game as well. There were loops and shit I think.

I love these kind of games for reasons I can't explain - especially when you're capable to freely navigate your environment in 6DoF and the number of enemies who can do likewise can be counted on one hand

>> No.9953792

I learned about Hover way too late. If I had downloaded it on my Win ME first PC I got, I probably would have played this shit to death

>> No.9954370

Is there any way to rip the textures? The only sprites on Spriters-resource.com are for the hovercraft itself.

>> No.9954518

>>9954370
I can rip them if you want.
The game uses a texture size of 256x256 and it's format is generic as hell

>> No.9955202

>>9954518
Please do so, I would really appreciate a complete rip!

It's more advanced than Wolf3D and in some aspects even more than Doom since you can actually go over and under platforms. It was included on the Windows 95 CD to show off how you could play even 3D games in a window which was pretty impressive at the time.

Wow, I don't remember that. Makes sense considering who is the developer. I guess it was removed from various RIPs to save space.

About that...
The texture files and ALL THE FUCKING SPRITES IN GAME are compressed with a RLE algorithm.
Anyway, here's what i managed to get.
Enjoy anon!

God damn, that is some amazing backwards compatibility. I'm on the latest version of Windows 11.
Just drag-n-drop the files from your Windows 95 CD to play.

There's also an uncannily similar DOS game called Cyberball or Cyberpuck or something.
