Rock Volnutt was also renamed to Megaman Volnutt as if people 3000 years after the X series would even know the origin of the name. Not to mention the remains of X's buster and Zero's saber being found by pure chance (which you can acquire during gameplay).

To be fair, mega man is an actual in universe video game in Legends. I also feel like it fits perfectly fine lore wise. The Mega Man title has been used for centuries and in the ZX series the term even became Mega Men when referring to multiple powerful machine people. So I could see video games being made inspired from these passed down legends of super heroes, infant Rock is discovered by Barrel in some ruins, a young Roll being aware of the name from video games decides to give her new brother the name "Megaman". Kinda like someone naming their kid Thor or Jesus, especially when it was probably a excitable child influenced by games that got naming duties.
