Hey guys

I just got a Nintendo 64 but it doesn't have any of the leads .. where could I get some? also what are some top games for it?

>> No.992838

you have to have the official power supply. ebay. about 10 bucks.

the a/v cord can be found anywhere. you can use a gamecube or snes a/v. they're all the same. there are many knock offs available on hyperkin's website too. as far as top games, everyone is going to tell you the same shit. just avoid superman 64 and you'll be good.

In rough order:

>Perfect Dark
>Star Fox 64
>Super Smash Bros.
>Turok 2
>Goldeneye (if you reallly liked Perfect Dark)

>> No.992856

Try out Wetrix if you love puzzle games and tetris. Do you have an expansion oak. Its the red thingy in your picture. Yours might not be red but most are. If you have it and love GPS shooters pick up perfect dark. Its what golden eye would have been if rare had more time and experience.

>Expansion pack bay is missing the cover
Why is this bothering me so badly?

>> No.992871

Yeah Ive got one of those red things, I also have something plugged into the back of one of my controllers

My 64 is missing the expansion cover and it pissed me off so much, but I don't want to spend $7 on Jewmazon to get one. What bullshit.

If you live in central Florida, I'd just give you my spare one.

If you just want to play games right now, and are willing to fuck around a bit you can just strip the wires off of RCA cables and wedge them inside the connector. As long as you have the wires and ground touching the relevant pins of the connector you will have audio and video.

everdrive 64 if you don't want to fuck with ridiculous prices for good games

>> No.993269

$20 for Ocarina of Time isn't ridiculous. Thinking you should get it for five bucks is ridiculous.

>> No.993272

Thinking you can get 10 good games for the price of the everdrive is ridiculous. It's just a good investment if you don't need a bunch of plastic to look at on your shelves.

>> No.993274

>>993272
You probably can, but that still doesn't mean the prices on those games are too high. The Everdrive is just very cheap.

>Perfect Dark (Goldeneye is comparable, but worse)
>Star Fox 64
>Super Smash Bros.
>Jet Force Gemini
>Mario Kart 64
>Super Mario 64
>Banjo Kazooie/Tooie
>Rayman 2
>Conker's Bad Fur Day
>LoZ: Ocarina of Time
>LoZ: Majora's Mask
>Pokemon Snap
>Pokemon Stadium 1/2
>Star Wars Episode 1 Racer
>Rampage World/Universal Tour

I share this pain. Where could it have even disappeared to? You only have to take it off, pop in the ram exp, and put it back on.

>>993282
You'll enjoy PS1/2 more if you use your own Pokemon, assuming you have the game pak.

Can anyone tell me if a Hori controller is really worth the price it boasts?

I've heard a lot of good things. Mine is set to get here in a week or so. If this thread is alive I will give you a full rundown.

I mostly like the default N64 controller, but all I have is a damn yobo which plays like ass. 80 dollars is too steep for a controller, but I'll probably get it once I can spare the cash.

>> No.994453

>>992864
I don't have a cover on my N64, but I think it was because we heard that the expansion pak could sometimes overheat with it on. Sure enough, Turok 2 did freeze a couple of times and it never did again after we took the cover off, but I've no idea if that had anything to do with it.

Also play Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon. Very fun adventure/platform game if you can get past the nonexistent camera controls. The second N64 Goemon game was good too apparently but I never played it.

>> No.994458

>overheating
That's why we needed to take it off. My father read that in the booklet that came along with DK64.

What's a good place to buy a N64 flash cart from that ships internationally?

>> No.994463

http://shop.retrogate.com/

Everywhere but Germany I believe. Direct from the guy who makes them too. Where I bought my everdrive 64 from and plan on going back to get the everdrive n8.

>> No.994465

I considered buying form there, so I sent an email asking about shipping and such.
But then I got this:
"I spip to worldwode, not only to EU or otrhec countries of europe. Shipping cost is same for any country. Shippind without insurance"

Yeah english is his second or third or fourth language. He's a great guy and will help you with any problems you may have (which are 99% user error anyway).

Anywhere else you buy from will be buying from him, marking up, and probably charging more to ship.

I bought the Turbo and the N8. Other than waiting a celestial epoch for the United States Package Smashers to bring my package to my house once it got to the states, I had no problems.

Except now I don't use either one. Oops. Well, I'll play again in the future.
