you know what, fuck this. instead of insulting you, i'm going to try something different and appeal to reason. if you want to have an intelligent conversation about the Xbox vs PC version, i'm willing to. in fact, i'll begin by explaining why you are wrong in the most respectful way that i can. first of all, if you said "the Xbox version is what i grew up with, it has unique kinks that i like and those contribute to my preference", then i wouldn't have a problem with that. i'd even be willing to accept that the Xbox original, compared to the initial PC release, was better -- if only because it presented a more polished experience. the original 2003 release had some issues; among them would be the lack of co-op, widescreen resolutions lowering FOV, and a few missing visual effects. with that in mind, it also brought some major upgrades in the form of higher FPS, better resolution for 4:3,16:9 and other displays (even if 16:9 is gimped by the FOV), online multiplayer, 6 additional multiplayer maps, 2 new weapons, and minor improvements like the scope on the sniper being accurately displayed as using 8x zoom instead of 10x. additionally, the release of Custom Edition in 2004 brought modding capabilities. then came stuff like Chimera, OpenSauce and CERefined which restored missing features from Xbox and fixed widescreen issues. the end result is a version of the game, as it exists in 2023, that is not only parallel to the Xbox version but improves upon in it in meaningful ways (such as adding online play). further still, being a PC game, it also preserves the game in a way that would be impossible without perfect Xbox emulation and maintenance of the original ROMs; and even then, it would lack the additional features which were instrumental in cementing the game's legacy.
