how have i never played this game?
sinistral is such a cool word for such a mundane meaning, but there is something subtly... sinister about a bunch of southpaws.

>Sinistral and dextral, in some scientific fields, are the two types of chirality ("handedness") or relative direction. The terms are derived from the Latin words for "left" (sinister) and "right" (dexter).
That's probably why.

Hell yeah anon, fucking love Lufia 2. Wish it got more love, but wygd? Series is essentially dead with Neverland being defunct and Square-Enix just holding the IP on top of the remake being a complete bomb.

>>9909689
Eh, if you have patience for NES-tier RPGs its managable, but 2 blows it out the water in basically every regard. Good soundtrack though.

The Legend Returns on the GBC, while not as good as 2, is still really solid and I recommend it.

>> No.9911971

Lufia 2 rocks. Highly recommended. The Zelda puzzles+RPG battles works really well. I love the monster points and the item points. It’s very breezy and never makes you sit around and grind or anything.
The story is pretty tropey but something I think the game does pretty well is how the dialogue provides a sense of camaraderie in the party. They actually come off as battle-worn friends which is something most RPGs of the era can’t speak to. I also like how the love triangle is handled. Tia doesn’t sacrifice herself or go evil because she can’t have Maxim. She just realizes what’s going on and leaves the party. A sort of realistic and mature move for the genre. The translation can be pretty out there though, they had no idea how to translate “gods” within Nintendo’s parameters. I think there’s a town towards the end of the game that just has gibberish text as wel or maybe I’m thinking of something else.

GBC game is great; Its biggest problem is the dungeons being very samey on top of being procedurally generated and having no puzzles, but I feel the meatier combat system makes up for it. Great soundtrack if you are a fan of the GBC soundchip. Unfortunately the translation is a bit rough around the edges which sort of undermines some of the drama, really wish it had a proper re-translation.

The DS game is controversial, but personally I like it; Its a complete departure from Lufia 2 in every way except sharing characters and most of the overall story beats. Truly a reimagining rather than a remake and better for it IMO. For someone who has played the original to death, its a very fresh way to experience the game. It also gives Tia a happier end without fucking up the original ending
