Virtual-On would be number 4 for me too but it's technically a fighting game. To answer your question I held an NA Model 1 controller a few months ago, I honestly kind of prefer it. Then again I also prefer the 3-button Genesis controller over the 6-button which is apparently an unpopular opinion in some circles

The shoulder button "hinge" mechanism doesn't work as well, the buttons have this bizarre internal skeleton which makes presses feel deeper and the edges of the buttons are harsh on the thumbs. The d-pad isn't very satisfying either.

Sonic 3D is debatable. NiGHTS got a Steam/PS2 release but that wasn't until much later. Sonic R is definitely better on PC which is the version I have. I prefer Mega Man X4 on Saturn even though I own it on PS1. Pandemonium is probably better on PS1 but I experienced it first on Saturn
