What's the best version of the 6 button? I have the standard MK-1653 and the generic Mk-1470, but are these any good? They sell for quite a bit as far as controllers go.

Here's the other 6 button I was talking about.

Would it be laggy? Or just bad?

with infrared there can be interference with other devices, slight input delay, and you have to make sure your receiver is aligned with the front of the wireless controller or your inputs will not register. you're better off getting a wireless retro-bit 6 button than the infrared.

Which official controller would you recommend then? I could consider the retrobit one, but I'll rather with one from the time.

Is not so big.
If you want, retrobit did recently an official "big 6" controller.

The best version was just released a few months ago, but the MK-1470 comes close. Maybe it's actually better as I see the buttons look bigger on it

It's mostly for fighting games and Comix Zone, but I also prefer the 3-button controller since I rarely play games that require those

How does it feel in the hands? I tend to worry about those retrobit ones. I personally didn't like the saturn pads they put out. I recently bought one of these. I hope its comfortable.

just get an official wired 6 button. and if it makes you feel better the retro-bit controller is officially licensed by sega, got access to the original controller molds, and even has their sega logo on it.

The Big 6 is the only one I don't own sadly, mainly because they took so long to release it I just ended up getting a Switch 3-button pad for a decent price used which is a little better for me anyway. I would imagine it feels the same aside from the six button layout

I've also been wanting to try one of these, but I really can't find a use for it.

>How does it feel in the hands?
i got mine somewhat recently. its decent, feels pretty much just like the original larger three-button pads (despite having slightly smaller buttons), which is exactly what i was looking for. especially so compared to the smaller sega 6 button pads which were too small for me to hold comfortably).
The only think i really dislike about it is the start button being pretty much flush with the casing instead of being like the original, but it's a very minor complaint. I like that it its actually licensed by sega (it has the actual genesis logo on the front instead of e.g. 'retro bit' like a lot of other aftermarket stuff) which sounds autistic but is a plus for me
for button size reference here is the big 6 with the x'eye jvc pad i had normally used until i got it

Hahaha no you wouldn't. Almost all wireless controllers at the time were infrared, which as the other anon said, terrible. Either get the retrobit wireless controller or get a wired one.

I have the retrobit six button, I was scared when the d-pad popped out when I dropped it on a hardwood floor once but apparently that's normal. I don't think I'd ever consider going back to the normal 3-button controller when so many games take advantage of the six button layout.
I also have the wireless saturn controller which also works fine for me. I heard there was some issue with the L and R buttons but I haven't noticed anything on mine.
