What are your thoughts on this?

It looks like it will barely work all those cartridge slots. I especially don't like the single controller ports. The controller that comes with it also looks really bad. I hope it's more reliable that the past Retrons.

I doubt emulator wizards are happy with that hobos stealing their code and selling it in a Android shitbox. Also copyrights holders like Nintendo and Sega must being preparing their hyper weapons against this Chinese tier sealers.

Maybe if a neckbear gets a FPGA and starts implement all chipsets in hardware can be a decent alternative to REAL hardware. But it's a really arduous task and the system can be 600 $ or more.

Are you fucking serious, kid? I'm just asking a goddamned question, and that makes me a viral marketer from hyperkin, jesus christ. I've seen several people in here say it's just an emulator, and I just wanna fucking know why, everything I've seen on the machine makes it look like any other reproduction console thing (Aside from having its own built in OS), you put a cartridge in, play the game.

Because it's EMULATING the hardware of the original console, very poorly might I add.

You fuck off, "kid". Tell your supervisor that we don't need these threads here and none of use are buying your shitty rip off "console" when a fucking low-end smartphone can do a better job at EMULATING.

Do you SERIOUSLY think I'm viral marketing? Like fucking really? All I did was ask a question, and that means I'm from hyperkin? I didn't say ANYTHING that would imply that I'm from Hyperkin. If I was marketing, why would I ask a question about my own product. You think out of all the places Hyperkin could do viral marketing at, they would come HERE? It is emulator because it emulates original console hardware. As with any emulator, you stick rom in (loaded on cart or otherwise), play game, works just like retro console it rips off.

>> No.987131

>>987127
So it's an emulator, even though it technically just uses reproduction internals of other consoles? I always figured emulation only applied to the PC emulators and shit.

>> No.987132

>>987113
To answer your question without autism:

These machines don't actually have the hardware from the old consoles, or even knock-offs of that hardware.

What they have are emulators stored onto the onboard chips. These emulators are of poor quality, typically with sound but you also run into games this display video weirdly on them.

The controllers are always quite uncomfortable and the entire build feels like it can crumble from a stern look.

>> No.987141

>>987132
Huh, I had no idea. I figured they just reproduced the old internals and jammed them into a box. I have a Retro Duo and it hasn't given me any issues at all, and I was looking at getting a Retron 5, maybe I'll wait for the reviews first.

>> No.987143

>>987131
Yeah, basically. It reproduces the system software in way that emulates the original. It's kind of like a Dendy console, which is itself a nes emulator.

Nah, that would be pretty expensive. You have to remember, it's not like a computer where you can just take someone's code and approximate it. You'd have to do some pretty low level programming to do a reproduction of a Super FX chip/Mode 7 fuckery.

Those systems on a chip are not emulators.
They have equivalent architecture to the original system, just miniaturized with modern technology.

>> No.987262

>>987143
Dendy consoles were not emulators, they were just bootleg NES's. The hardware was extremely close to a real NES, and they have better compatibility, sound, and video than pretty much any other clone system ever made. Mostly because they were made when the NES was new.

Also it looks cool. I was thinking about buying a retro duo for the living room but haven't had the need yet. The ability to have a built in gameboy player is awesome and so are save states. I wonder if they went to all that trouble why not also include a memory card slot of some kind so you can load roms. If its cheap enough I would get this. from a game store beacuse the snes was around 60 dollars at this one store.
The fc3+ could run snes gens and nes for the same price.
I wanted to buy a largervariety of games and still have fun.
The Fc3+ is ok but can't run certain capcom nes games or castlevania 3.

Also the controllers are alright. The power cable will work with any nes adapter. Sadly I've lost mine so I have a useless console till I get a new power adapter for it.

Using a keyboard is different from playing with a controller in front of a tv.

>> No.993983

If you think this is a good idea you need to end yourself. If you want a catch-all retro gaming console then buy a USB controller and hookup an old PC to a TV. That way you'll get the exact same experience, cheaper, and without having to buy games. If you want an emulator machine then buy a PSP.

Literally the only use that isn't retarded that I've seen in this thread is a used game store keeping it around to test traded-in games.
