Was it good?

I can't think of this game, or listen to the Spring Yard Zone music without remembering Pat hired a stripper to act in a videogame review.

GAINAX

Had it as a kid. Good music, decent gameplay and secrets but too short.

I hate that pepeloglu got less and less cute as the game went on.

I've tried this game for decades, it never clicks with me. It's by no means a bad game, but something drives me away from it. I don't know how to explain. I feel like it's "garbled", too much stuff thrown at and by you, and the visual feedback and gameplay do a not-so-good job of keeping me interested. Oh, well...

The stage 1 theme is really, really good.

Played it for the first time recently despite seeing it in magazines in the 90s and thinking it looked amazing.
It was decent but the non stop enemy barrage in some levels was kinda infuriating.
Didn't finished it, got up to the last boss and gave up.

I prefer the left side but I'm sure some guys like the style on the right it's got that barbazon look to it.

Great game in all aspects, not too difficult, nice music, comfy fantasy world

>> No.9861480

Both are incredibly based.
>Leftside: Beautiful hand drawn art style done in water colour, symbolic of the golden age of anime and manga in Japan.
>Rightside: Trad painted fantasy art style reminiscent of the best era of role playing games, the greats such as Boris Vallejo and Larry Elmore.

>> No.9861497

>>9861434
Left will always be preferable for accuracy but right is a really good painting on its own merits.

why does the Japanese one have horrible claw feet?

It has one of the best soundtracks on the Genesis. Some of those tracks are reminiscent of something Ryu Umemoto might pump out on the OPNA.

the right is S Tier, the left is a close A. I wouldnt have been mad at the one on the left but the Boris Vallejo type was a better choice for American markets.

It is a bit unconventional, but I appreciate it having what I would now describe as a sort of early Japanese computer game charm. Back then, there wasn't much on the Genesis so it was kinda standout in that first year.
