Gen 1 is okay, it's largely a Pokémon rip off. However, Star version didn't see an actual physical release but it was part of the Gigaleak, so the ROM now is around online. I keep hoping someone ports he english translation into Comic Bon Bon, the fourth version of gen 1.
2 is more unique and quite fun, I reccomend it.

Also, you only get a party of four instead of Pokemon's six. You get a standard attack in addition to a number of special attacks (based on what your Robopon is equipped with and stuff) instead of Pokemon's PP system. I don't think you catch Robopon like you do in Pokemon, either, but rather acquire them by building them, finding them, and buying them (IIRC).

i love the robopon series.
the first game is extremely experimental while being a pokemon clone.
-the tv remote gimmick for treasures and evolving.
-a functional clock like gold/silver and day of the week events.
-building your own base/tower thing.
-the japanese version had support for actual dlc. like at the event it created new robopon that didn't exist in-game and they're deleted once the internal battery dies.

also regarding the manga, the designs evolved to be more lewd over time and for many kids this is where they awakened a massive boobs fetish.
like i've got the manga where it first started. its filled with kirby, mario, goemon, megaman and other action series and then there's robopon.

Every time we have a Robopon thread someone reminds me I need to stop being a shitty anon and scan my copy's manual. I got it about a decade ago "sealed" off Amazon for like fifteen bucks and it was a reseal in otherwise really good shape. Pretty funny because I had the game when it first came out, then I eventually traded it in. The secondary market for these games (and the GBA Demikids games) is nuts. Maybe I'll grab them as grails someday.
How complete were the ROM files from the gigaleak? I'd love to convert some JP copies of the games or whatever Hello Kitty game uses the same mapper to recreate the appropriate physical carts for them if they're translated, assuming there are writable chips that will fit in the cartridges like what used to be common for SNES repros and translations.

Well, there are different scales of digitization.

Options include:

It's trademarks which have to be actually used and protected. Losing a trademark is not a big deal as you still retain the IP, you just can't claim to be the sole owner of its name. I can never understand why someone would intentionally put more effort into color and shading than than the line work and shape.
The arms, shoulders, head and maybe even neck are too small for that body. A good rule of thumb for checking anatomy should be to see how close the thickness of the forearm and shin match.
Shins should be 10%-20% longer and thicker than the forearm, unless you're going for a more muscular design. And the biceps are too short and thin in relation to the thighs.
