Imagine if the series continued building off of its peak form rather than trying to reinvent the wheel every generation.

Nintendo wouldn't have allowed it.

it's not possible, at some point that would have necessitated a longer development time and these things needed to make their date and come out according to schedule.

GSC was supposed to be the last installment but it was way too popular.

What triggers mom buying stuff with your savings? I have more than enough savings to have the snorlax doll, but she won’t buy it. Playing on OG hardware, btw

Gen 2 is my favourite because they're the only generation that are both sequels to the previous games and a massive evolution of what the original games were.

And then Gen 3 tried to re-invent Gen 1 and removed tons of the great shit from Gen 2. I recently tried to play Pokemon Emerald for my first time and everything is such a fucking chore, everything looks ugly, and the fucking horns and trumpets are killing my ears.

The closest we've gotten to anything like Gen 2 is probably Gen 5.

Have you been depositing money manually to build up your savings, or have you just let the savings naturally build as you play the game? If you did the former, it doesn't really work for some reason.

Until gen 4 the series was doing literally that, gen 5 fuck it up with online only berries and gen 6 onwards is just a fucking transvesti.
Gen 3 only sin for me was not having a night and day cycle, outside of that Emerald is still one of the best Pokemon games out there.

What did they expect when they gave it so much soul? I think every game since then has just been trying to tank the series so that they will stop being forced to work on the IP. If removing "gotta catch em all" didnt do it nothing will.

GSC are definitely the best the weakest components being a rather weak summary screen for the Pokemon missing things like met location and then the clunky PC box. That said there are so many interesting grinds to complete in these games its a real treat to build your save file up over years even.

That said Firered and Leafgreen are pretty damn good really.

They are closer to the traditional Sugimori art style then not. Polished beyond belief with a great UI.

The have solid takes on Red and Green dungeon maps like Power Plant and Seafoam isles missing from GSC.

No Hoenn Pokemon outside baby egg hatches and mythical Deoxy that requires altering your save.

Extremely challenging to manipulate the RNG just like GSC and unlike RSE.

Rare items and long grinds, such as the Lucky Egg from Safari Zone Chansey and beating the Elite 4 around 200 times to fill the doll house up on Four island.

Sevii islands are fucking fine if you just relax and stop expecting to relive GSC. They are on the boring side for sure but haul your ass over to one island and see how long it takes you to explore each island. Near as big as Johto.

Amazing in game performance and super fast encounters make shiny hunting a pleasant experience.

PC box wallpapers and party sprites are pure soul GTFO.

Dont let retards talking about shit like level curve in GSC(instant filter) and other dumb shit steer you away from Fr/Lg. If you are a collectathon post game player, the only people who matter, 600+ hours save people. Fr/Lg are like GSC side story.

GSC are pure soul but dont cuck yourself outta Fr/Lg. Its an amazing game.

What I'm beginning to realize is that with most games there is no "building" off what's already there. The Peak is the highest point, anon. These people are putting everything, all of their best ideas, into every single game - to the best of their ability at the time. They're reinventing the wheel because they have to.

Well, yeah, there was really nothing more that could be done to improve on the battle system after the Split, which is why we've since been getting shallow gimmicks like Mega Evolution.

I dont know it it peaked there or i'm too old for a grindy gameplay with little story like pokemon; but i do know that i played hundreds of hours on silver (bless you gameboy nightlight) while i dropped 3 times ruby/emerald halfway because it was so fuckin boring.

Friendly reminder that the only status effect that increases a Pokemon's catch rate in Gen 2 is paralysis.

I actually don't mind the battles staying the same, it's the rest of the mechanics that are the problem. Stuff like breeding, IVs (and by extension natures) and EVs to name a few.

What you've just said... Is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point, in your rambling, incoherent response, were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. FRLG error was Red travelling to Sevii Islands instead of Johto. We should have crossed Tohjo Falls, met Elm, fighted Falkners Dad, see Jasmine changing from Rock to Steel, ventured into the Dragons Den and schooled Clair, and fought Blue and Oak at Mount Silver.

I feel like the minor changes to the battle and catching systems in Legends Arceus were fine, too bad the game looks like dogshit and the exploration is worse than literal Game Boy games.

How did you get that from his post? He did say exactly that they dropped improvements, which is exactly what releasing the same game (with extra mediocrity and tediousness) with every game after GS, especially post Gen 3.

Reinventing the wheel would mean that they had NOT released the SAME game every generation post Gen 2.

>> No.9848473

>>9848443
yeah, it probably was, but maybe the pixel art didn't translate that way because of some of the concept art handed to the team?
there was definitely some floating around a while back that got buried/erased off the internet with the back of his neck showing white hair.
