Uhhh...

>> No.9832958

i was wondering a few days ago if some weirdo made a mario 1 pc port using a decompilation project or whatever

>> No.9832973

>>9832936
That's not a port.

>> No.9832976

>>9832925
Because the Famicom was in competition with 8-bit computers. The only systems that got a version of SMB were computers that lacked horizontal scrolling capability.

>> No.9832994

Yes, it's a remaster

>> No.9833017

>>9832958
I don't think there's a decomp of it.
>>9832925
You could ask the same about Pokemon games that do have decomps.
The answer is that there isn't that many people capable to do a decent port and most that can are discord autismos.

>> No.9833020

>>9832925
Because if it did, we wouldn't have DOOM

>> No.9833031

>>9833017
In fairness the autismos ARE working their way through the Pokemon games, it's just a slow process that's only gotten up to Gen 3 so far. Interesting stuff though, saw this 8 way movement/camera mod come up recently

Nintendo wants to sell you and keep you on their hardware. However, sometimes weird shit like
>>9832936
happens. It's also been perfectly emulated since the mid 90s. Who cares?

There's no Super Mario Bros port, what the fuck are you talking about? They did develop a demo of a SMB3 running on MS-DOS, but it was pretty crap to say the least. There's Super Mario Bros Special for PC-88 and Sharp X1, so I guess you can have fun with that

Yes, Gens 1 and 2 have only been disassembled. I think Gen3 has been almost completely decompiled, but I don't think there's anyone working on porting the games to PC or other platforms.

Ah, nostalgia

I remember someone made a SMB1 port to HTML5 which runs on PC.

You could even run it in widescreen.

this.
>>9832925
nintendo refused to license any port because it would have eaten into their hardware sales. they knew people would have made ports that were superior to their own on competing systems.

Here's a video of it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1YWD6Y9FUuw

It's a cool historical curiosity, but it's also more of a rough proof of concept than anything else, it's only a few levels and there's no sound. Also the palette and bootleg looking imitation sprites are cursed as fuck.
