What was your favorite demo disk back in the day?
How many hours did you pour into it over the real game?
We're they successful in getting you to buy the full version, or were you happy replaying the same ~30 minutes of the game?

For me, it was Euro demo seven.
Because there was this great video clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpokX1r_KVU

I don't even like the band, only this song. It's great.

Probably the one that came with my PlayStation.
WarHawk, Bogey 6, a maze game with a tank, and more

The MGS2 demo that came with Zone of the Enders. I probably played it more than I played the full game.

I actually have dumps of my demo discs. I don't know how much that stuff is out there. I'm also not sure emulators can run them. The one time I tried (almost 10 years ago) they crashed a lot

Fortunately archive has a few demo disks, although oddly I can't find some of them now. I had to look elsewhere.
I played the simpsons cartoon studio for hours on end on my dad's gateway machine. I'm pretty sure that alone gave him reason to buy me my own PC a year later.

The demo disc that came with the Dreamcast. On top of having a great line up of demos it was the only thing I had to play for the first week I picked up my DC.

the two i remember the most, apart from Doom shareware, are GTA 1 and THPS 1. On different disks in different years, but they both only let you play for 2 minutes. I probably played maybe 20 hours each just playing the 2 minutes over and over again seeing how far i could get

...actually, GTA might have had a 5 minute limit. But stuff was in the game like selling cars and things you barely even had time to get to

I remember that exact demo disc. Did anyone ever make money off music they made on Music 2000? I remember making some trash dnb on it

Hundreds, I was poor back then. I could only affoard one platinum game every 4 months.
>We're they successful in getting you to buy the full version, or were you happy replaying the same ~30 minutes of the game?
Only in a few cases like retro force or rollcage

One of the big reasons I wanted the xbox magazine was that it offered demo disks.
I finally got it, the first issue I got was the issue they discontinued demo disks.
