Ah yes, peak NES Mega Man/Rockman.

>> No.9782230

The wily theme is kino. Theres this great feeling of finality to it, like it really coulda been the end of the series and its just a 20 second loop

>can't jump out of a slide

How could they fuck up something so basic; and the fact that people who claim this is the best MM game haven't even noticed this shows their opinion should be discarded

>> No.9782305

>some of the ugliest color palettes in the series
>stage themes can go out the window in the span of a single screen
>can't jump out of slide
>nonsensical item placement
>fairly weak weapon set
ehhh. it's better than 1 & 2.

you might be thinking of a different one. mm6 has a long wily theme.

You could have chosen literally any other NES entry and been closer to the peak. Really good music, though.

But that would include picking Mega Man 5

>> No.9782809

I would put this as the third best of the NES titles with 2 and 3 taking first and second place.

It's based around the Rush Adapter gimmick but you know what? It's a fun gimmick and the game does a lot with it. Pretty amazing graphics and a pretty good soundtrack. Weak points are that the Master Weapons might be the worst in the series and the game's passwords still only take you about halfway through the game (less of a problem in modern times of course). I'm also a huge sucker for late releases in a system where the developers have really figured out the hardware.

>> No.9782817

I'm torn between 4 and 6 being my favorite of the NES games.

You didn't have to go this low for (You)s. Have some pride.

MM6 is my favorite MM game of all-time. Played it so much as a kid on the NES and then again with emulation.

I played MM4 so fucking much on my Nes back in the day when I rented it, that the fucking AC brick fucking MELTED into the power outlet, I shit you not, my parents weren't happy because it left a fucking black burnt mark on the power outlet

i'm of the opinion that MM got better with each entry until MM8

Okay but how do you justify the absolute cliff that is Mega Man 5?

I don't know why everyone disses it, that game's great. The only problem with it is that they skipped it on NES and released it on Game Boy. That's still one of my biggest gaming mysteries, the NES series could've been a kickass hexology and then they put one randomly on Game Boy. It just looks a little off in my collection. Oh well! Still a good game, and I wouldn't have it any other way!

It should have released in Europe, in Great Britain and Scandinavia MM was a hit and in Europe as a whole the NES lived much longer.
I knew someone who actually imported the US version, back then.

I fucking love MM6. Really feels like a swan song to the NES and the classic series. The biggest downside is the junk, but you can patch that nowadays. I just wish it was a bit harder, but buster only runs are still fun romps.

The game was very popular in Brazil.
It released as soon as nintendo arrived here officially pretty much, so a lot of us that had famiclones in the 90s got to play it.
I still own my copy.
Still my favorite megaman game of all time.

Also, hands down the best final boss theme in the entire series alongside the best ending theme.

Seriously, no other soundtrack in the series can hold a candle to 6.

I love how the ending song of MM6 became the opening song for MM7. They did that at least one other time going from MM1 to MM2.
